CINEFOOT 2016. A CAMISA 7 COMO INSPIRAÇÃOANTONIO LEAL

Na sua sétima edição o CINEfoot celebra a camisa número 7, aquela que sustenta histórias memoráveis do futebol tão marcantes quanto à cé-lebre “10” que hoje tanto nos deixa órfãos nos gramados. Em todos os tempos na história do futebol há um momento marcante envolvendo a camisa 7 para contar e celebrar. Ariscos, decisivos, cheios de ginga, Charles Chaplin ou Fred Astaire, aqueles que vestem a 7 carregam uma responsabilidade extra.

A “Honraria Gol de Placa 2016” do CINEfoot será entregue simbolica-mente aos ponteiros direitos, originalmente donos da 7, que tantas alegrias proporcionaram nos gramados, e também aos diversos outros camisas 7 que ao longo do tempo foram envergando esta tradicional camiseta em variadas posições definidas pelos esquemas táticos imple-mentados pelos “professores”.

Entetanto, faz-se necessário deixar bem claro que temos um camisa 7 hors concours. Manoel Francisco dos Santos, ou simplesmente Garrin-cha, ou humildemente Mané, não deixa dúvidas sobre quem é o verda-deiro dono da camisa 7 de todos os tempos. Suas atuações encantado-ras, seus dribles desconcertantes e sua descontração em jogar futebol, o elevaram a uma categoria de extraterrestre, gênio, mito. A alegria do povo. Com extrema naturalidade, o “Anjo das Pernas Tortas” passari-nhou pelos gramados do mundo inteiro angariando uma multidão de admiradores.

Segundo o mestre Armando Nogueira, para Mané Garrincha o espaço de um pequeno guardanapo era um enorme latifúndio. E o que dizer, então, dos seus marcadores, os diversos “Joões” que conviveram com pesadelos repletos de fintas imprevisíveis de Garrincha? O curta-metra-gem de animação O Primeiro João, de André Castelão, figura na sessão de abertura do 7˚ CINEfoot e “revela” a saga desta turma de desespera-dos e a origem do apelido.

No campo da cultura do futebol, a “Honraria Futebol Arte 2016” vai para o Museu da Pelada, a mais recente e brilhante iniciativa no campo cultu-ral em defesa da identidade e promoção dos valores mais preciosos do futebol genuinamente praticado nos campos e fora das quatro linhas. A pelada, os boleiros, os causos e a construção permanente de um futebol de fantasia e irreverência plena compõem o arco monumental elevado

pelo Museu da Pelada de forma magnífica para celebrar o esporte mais popular do planeta. Só a pelada salva, minha gente.

Uhhh, cadê o Maracanã, sumiu! Sem estádio, sem ingresso, sem fute-bol. O cântico provocador que ecoou durante anos nas arquibancadas permanece atual e instigante para aqueles que amam o futebol. O ano de 2016 marca o futebol carioca sem o Maracanã em quase todo calen-dário e o futuro do estádio pós-Olimpíadas é incerto. O jogo está sen-do jogado mais uma vez com a supressão do livre debate democrático, mas não sem a luta dos torcedores e daqueles que entendem que o Maracanã deve estar a serviço do futebol e da sociedade. O 7.˚ CINEfoot inclui na sua programação um encontro para debater este tema reunin-do variados olhares sobre a questão.

Nossos espectadores-torcedores terão a oportunidade de apreciar uma programação composta por produções de diversas partes do mundo, em sua maioria inéditas no país, além de sessões especiais como a já tradicional Mostra Dente de Leite destinada ao público infantojuvenil.

Graças as articulações internacionais estabelecidas desde a sua funda-ção, o CINEfoot fortalece o seu papel referencial no continente latino--americano para o emergente circuito mundial de festivais de cinema de futebol. Esta atuação em rede amplia o grau de importância do CI-NEfoot que, mais uma vez, quebrou o recorde de inscrições alcançando 165 filmes enviados para a seleção em 2016.

CINEFOOT 2016 - THE INSPIRATION OF JERSEY #7ANTONIO LEAL

The 7th edition of CINEfoot celebrates jersey #7, which bears football stories as memorable as those borne by jersey #10, which lately has been cause for disappointment on the pitch. In the history of football, there’s always a remarkable moment including the #7. Wild, decisive, full of swing, Charles Chaplin or Fred Astaire: those wearing the #7 have extra responsibilities.

CINEfoot’s “2016 Perfect Goal Tribute” will be symbolically delivered to right-wingers, who originally owned the #7 and gave us so much joy, but also to other #7s, who wore the jersey throughout time in various positions established in their coaches’ tactics.

However, it should be clearly explained that we have a special #7. Mano-el Francisco dos Santos, aka Garrincha, or, more humbly, “Mané,” leaves no doubt on who’s the real owner of the #7. His enchanting matches, his perplexing dribbling, his relaxed way of playing elevated him to the level of extraterrestrial, genius, myth. The joy of the people. Extremely naturally, the “Bent-Legged Angel” fluttered in pitches throughout the world leaving behind a legion of admirers.

According to master Armando Nogueira, for Mané Garrinha, the space of a napkin was a large estate. What can we say of his adversaries, who had the nightmare of having to face Garrincha’s unpredictable drib-bling? André Castelão’s animation short O Primeiro João will be part of the opening session of the 7th CINEfoot, providing an account on this band of desperate men, nicknamed “João,” and the origins of the name.

Regarding the culture of football, the “2016 Beautiful Game Tribute” goes to the “Pelada” Museum, the most recent and brilliant cultural ini-tiative to promote the most precious football values, genuinely prac-ticed both in and out of the pitch. The “pelada” (the name for an informal football match in Brazil), the footballers, the stories and the permanent development of a fantasy, irreverent football compose the monumen-tal arch magnificently erected by the Pelada Museum to celebrate the most popular sport on the planet. Only football saves, people.

“Where’s Maracanã? Gone!” No stadium, no tickets, no football. The provocative chant echoed for years in the stands, but remains current and encouraging for football lovers. The 2016 Rio de Janeiro football cal-endar almost always excluded Maracanã, and the future of the Stadium after the Olympics is uncertain. The game is being played once again with the suppression of a free, democratic debate, not, however, with-out the fight of football fan and those who understand that Maracanã should be at the service of football and the society. The 7th edition of CINEfoot includes a debate of the issue from various perspectives.

Our spectators/rooters will have the opportunity to watch films from all around the world, mostly films that have never been screened in the country, as well as special sessions, such as the already traditional Dente de Leite Screening for children and youths. Thanks to the international agreements made since its inception, CINEfoot becomes increasingly a reference in Latin America in the emerging global circuit of football film festivals. Such networking activity expands the importance of CINEfoot, a festival which, once more, broke its record of entries, reaching 165 films in 2016.

A pelada, os boleiros, os causos e a construção perma-nente de um futebol de fantasia e irreverência plena compõem o arco monumental elevado pelo Museu da Pelada de forma magnífica para celebrar o espor-te mais popular do planeta.

O Museu da Pelada foi criado com o objetivo de revi-ver os grandes momentos do futebol, dar visibilida-de a ídolos esquecidos e resgatar a poesia que en-cantava milhares de torcedores brasileiros.

Com a palavra, o capitão deste timaço, Sergio Puglie-se: o CINEfoot sempre foi uma de nossas inspirações e receber a “Honraria Futebol Arte” justamente da or-ganização desse festival mágico é para sair socando o ar, abraçar quem surgir pela frente e colocar a bola no meio do campo para seguir o jogo.

2016 “BEAUTIFUL GAME” TRIBUTE | THE “PELADA” MUSEUMThe “2016 Beautiful Game Tribute” goes to the “Pela-da” Museum, the most recent and brilliant initiative in culture to defend the identity of football and to promote its most precious values, genuinely prac-ticed in and out of pitches. The “pelada” (the term for an informal football match in Brazil), the footballers, the stories and the permanent development of a fan-tasy, irreverent football compose the monumental arch magnificently erected by the Pelada Museum to celebrate the most popular sport on the planet.

The Museum was created to recreate football’s great moments, to make forgotten idols visible and bring back the poetry that enchanted thousands of Brazil-ian fans.

Sergio Pugliese, the captain of that dream team speaks: “CINEfoot has always inspired us, and receiv-ing the “Beautiful Football Tribute” from exactly that magical festival deserves a Pelé-like punching-the-air celebration, hugging the first person in front of you and setting the ball in the middle of the pitch to continue the match.

The Pelada Museum created the Universal Decla-ration of Footballers, which, among its command-ments, includes the maxim: “every footballer is equal in their differences.”

Mário José dos Reis Emiliano, ou simplesmente Marinho, o craque eter-no do Bangu, é o homenageado com a “Honraria Gol de Placa 2016” do CINEFOOT.

Marinho ganhou a Bola de Prata como o melhor ponta-direita e a Bola de Ouro como o melhor jogador da temporada de 1985, premiação anual realizada pela Revista Placar. Este foi, sem dúvida, o ano que alçou Marinho a um patamar de jogador espetacular do futebol brasileiro e o levou à convocação para a Seleção Canarinho.

Sempre cobiçado por diversos times do Brasil, manteve-se fiel ao Ban-gu e já no final da sua belíssima carreira desfilou seu talento acima da média por outras agremiações do país, encerrando sua trajetória profis-sional no clube de Moça Bonita.

Em 2015, Marinho teve a camisa 7 imortalizada pelo Bangu.

2016 PERFECT GOAL TRIBUTE MARINHO, THE GOLDEN BALL JERSEY #7

Mário José dos Reis Emiliano, or simply Marinho, the eternal star of Ban-gu A.C., is honored with the “Perfect Goal Tribute” at CINEFOOT 2016.

Marinho won the Silver Ball as the best right wing and the Golden Ball as the best player of the 1985 season, in the annual awards held by the magazine Placar. This was undoubtedly the year that lifted Marinho to a high level of Brazilian football players and led him to the Brazilian National Team.

Wanted, always, by several teams in Brazil, he remained loyal to Ban-gu and - at the end of his beautiful career - showed his high talent in other teams of the country, ending his career at the Moça Bonita team, the Bangu A.C.

In 2015, Bangu retired the jersey #7, eternalizing Marinho forever.

The “Perfect Goal Tribute” at CINEfoot will also be delivered symbolically to all right wings, originally owners of the jersey #7 and who gave to the crowd so much happiness in the field game. At all times in the his-tory of football there is a remarkable moment involving the jersey #7 to celebrate. Fast, decisive and full of technique, being a kind of Charles Chaplin or Fred Astaire, those who wear the jersey #7 carry an addition-al responsibility for the delight of football.

Genial, multifacetado e imprescindível à arte do futebol, Johannes Cruyff foi um rol de superações, a começar pela infância pobre e a per-da do pai. A mãe era faxineira do time do Ajax, e seu filho se tornaria a legenda daquele clube, além de um dos melhores jogadores da história. Líder da espetacular Laranja Mecânica, a maior expressão coletiva já vista no futebol, Cruyff era o grande astro de um time mundialmente admirado há mais de 40 anos. Um bando de craques geniais, sem po-sição e camisas fixas, em que todos marcavam e atacavam. O futebol total, massivo e jazzy.

Holandês de nascença, Cruyff virou catalão de coração, antes mesmo de mandar o Real Madrid do franquismo às favas, optando pelo Barcelona e tirando o time de um jejum de quase uma década e meia sem títulos. Depois, como treinador, ele abriu as trilhas para que o Barça se tornasse a maior potência do mundo: seus critérios de coletividade e arte ali-mentaram a cabeça de Pep Guardiola, donde se explica muito de hoje.

Craque, contestador, indomável, Cruyff mudou o futebol para sempre, dentro do gramado e à beira dele. Ecos do seu talento foram vistos no futebol de craques como Falcão e Romário, seu pupilo. Magrão, talen-toso e politizado, ele pode ser imaginado na estampa do maravilhoso Sócrates: um pensador do futebol.

Genius, multifaceted and indispensable to the art of football, Johannes Cruyff went through a lot in his life, starting by being poor as a kid and loosing his father. His mother was a cleaning lady at Ajax, where her son would become a legend. Cruyff would also become one of the best football players of all times.

Leader of the spectacular Clockwork Orange, the greatest collective ex-pression of football, Cruyff was the star of a team globally admired for 40 years. A band of genius players, with no fixed positions or jerseys, where everyone tackled and attacked. It was a total, massive and jazzy form of football.

Cruyff was born in the Netherlands, but became a Catalan at heart, even before crushing the Francoist Real Madrid and opting for Barcelona and ending the team’s almost one and a half decades without winning a championship. Later on, as a coach, he opened the way for Barça to be-come the greatest football power in the world: his ideas of collectivity and art were passed on to Pep Guardiola, which explains the current success.

Football star, contester, indomitable. Cruyff changed football forever, inside and at the side of the pitch. Echoes of his talent were seen in stars such as Falcão and Romário, his pupil. Thin, talented and politicized, he can be compared to the wonderful Sócrates: a football thinker.

The Dutch Carrousel still lives in the dreams of football fans around the world and, in that team, Cruyff was the greatest star in the world of football.

A paixão de assistir a um jogo com o radinho grudado ao ouvido. Sucessora da primeira rádio brasileira, a Rádio Sociedade, fundada em 1923 pelo antropólogo Edgar Roquette-Pinto, a Rádio MEC AM – 800 KHz – está definitivamente atrelada a esta paixão. A Rádio Nacional do Rio de Janeiro – AM 1.130 KHz –, por sua vez, disseminou entre milhões de brasileiros, a paixão pelos times cariocas como Flamengo, Vasco, Fluminense e Botafogo. Nada mais do que justa esta homenagem do 7.º CINEfoot às duas emissoras. Ao implantar as transmissões radiofônicas no Brasil, Roquette-Pinto anteviu a importância desse veículo para a construção da nossa cidadania, com iniciati-vas como a transmissão de um programa que incen-tivava a prática de ginástica pelo rádio.

A Rádio Nacional mantém as transmissões de futebol como um dos pilares de sua programação, com des-taque para os jogos do Campeonato Carioca, Brasi-leiro das séries A, B e C, Copa do Brasil, Copa Liberta-dores da América, Copa do Mundo, Jogos Olímpicos e Paralímpicos.

RADIO MEC AND RADIO NACIONAL – 80TH ANNIVERSARYELIANE FERNANDES, LIARA AVELLAR, MARCOS GOMES The radio is intimately connected to Brazil’s passion for football, the passion of watching a game with a small radio glued to the ear. The successor of Brazil’s first radio station, Radio Sociedade, founded in 1923 by anthro-pologist Edgar Roquette-Pinto, Radio MEC AM — 800 KHz — is definitely linked to this passion. Rio de Janei-ro’s Radio Nacional — AM 1,139 KHz —, in turn, dissem-inated for millions of Brazilians the passion for Rio de Janeiro’s teams, such as Flamengo, Vasco, Fluminense and Botafogo. It is fair, therefore, that the 7th edition of CINEfoot pays tribute to these stations.

When he implemented radio transmissions in Brazil, Roquette-Pinto foresaw the importance of the me-dia for the development of citizenry tin he country, promoting initiatives such as the broadcasting of a program that stimulated people to exercise.

Radio Nacional still broadcasts football matches, it is one of the pillars of the station’s programing, es-pecially the Rio de Janeiro and Brazilian (A, B and C leagues) championships, the Copa Libertadores da América, the World Cup, as well as of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Radio Nacional’s sports broadcasting was only suc-cessful because of the dedication of sports chronicle stars that made history at the most prestigious mi-crophone of Brazilian radio. Our greatest tribute to these professionals.

100 ANOS DE BRASIL X URUGUAI100 ANOS DA PRIMEIRA COPA AMÉRICA: URUGUAI CAMPEÃO

Este é um clássico que agita brasileiros e uruguaios que gostem ou não de futebol. “Brasil x Uruguai” extrapola a questão futebolística e per-meia os mais diversos contextos sociais. É drama, é documentário, é liturgia. A rivalidade construída em um século tem como pilar partidas e conquistas memoráveis de ambos os lados. Craques e histórias épicas envolvendo lágrimas de alegria e de tristeza.

A primeira partida teve como palco o Estádio do Club Gimnasia y Esgri-ma, durante a 1.a Copa América na Argentina (Campeonato Sul-Ame-ricano de Futebol), em 1916, conquistada pelo Uruguai. Esse jogo teve um fato marcante: a revolta de torcedores com ingressos na mão que não conseguiram entrar no estádio. Revoltados, atearam fogo por baixo das arquibancadas causando pânico ao público presente. Com as laba-redas sob controle, a calma votou a reinar e a partida foi iniciada. Vitória uruguaia por 2x1 com Friedenreich sendo o primeiro jogador brasileiro na história a assinalar um gol contra o Uruguai. Gradín e Tognola mar-caram para o Uruguai.

Nesta trajetória centenária, a conquista da Copa do Mundo pelo Uru-guai no Maracanã em 1950 é o elemento mais marcante. Ghiggia, Ob-dulio Varela e a garra charrúa elevaram a mítica Celeste a um patamar extraordinário celebrando uma conquista que se juntou aos triunfos olímpicos de 1924 e 1928, bem como ao título mundial de 1930.

“Brasil x Uruguai” tem também a marca de Romário no triunfo brasileiro na Copa América de 1989 (Brasil 1x0) e na partida válida pelas eliminató-rias para a Copa do Mundo de 1994 (Brasil 2x0) quando o “Baixinho” te-nha, talvez, realizado a sua mais brilhante partida pela Seleção Brasileira.

The rivalry developed over a century was developed in memorable matches and triumphs on both sides. Stars and epic stories including tears of joy and sadness.

The first match took place at the stadium of the Club Gimnasia y Esgri-ma during the 1st Copa América (the South American Football Champi-onship), in Argentina, in 1916, which Uruguay won. Something curious happen during the match: some fans had tickets, but could not get into the stadium. Revolted, they set a fire below the stands, causing panic. After the fire was controlled, peace returned and the match finally be-gan. Uruguay won 2 x 1. Friedenreich was Brazil’s first player to score against Uruguay. Gradín and Tognola scored for Uruguay.

The most striking fact in this centennial path is the victory of Uruguay over Brazil at the Maracanã stadium in 1950. Ghiggia, Obdulio Varela and the vigor of the Charrúa people took the Celestial mystique to ex-traordinary levels, celebrating a triumph that would meet the Olympic victories of 1924 and 1928 and of the 1930 World Cup.

“Brazil x Uruguay” also had Romário’s touch at the 1989 Copa Améri-ca (Brazil 1x0) and at the qualifiers for the 1994 World Cup (Brazil 2x0), which may have been his most brilliant match at the Brazilian squad.

Let there be another hundred years of this football classic.

CAMPEONATO CARIOCA 110 ANOSSão Paulo e Bahia já tinham dado o pontapé inicial para a realização de seus campeonatos estaduais. O Rio de Janeiro entra nesse seleto grupo de pioneiros ao realizar a sua primeira edição em 1906. Desde então, o charme se instalou no Campeonato Carioca que se transformou no palco centenário da história do futebol revelando inúmeras gerações de craques embaladas pela paixão de milhões de torcedores.

Devidamente instalado no imaginário popular e no campo da representação social do futebol, o Campe-onato Carioca atravessa atualmente um período de completo desgaste sendo tratado de maneira inapro-priada pelos gestores do futebol do Rio de Janeiro. Ma-racanã fechado, estádios vazios, jogos de qualidade duvidosa, gramados em péssimas condições, prejuízos financeiro e histórico, além de um Fla x Flu no Pacaem-bu. Cento e dez anos depois o Campeonato Carioca re-siste aos trancos e barrancos.

Há 110 anos 1906: Fluminense, o primeiro campeão.

A primeira partida pelo Campeonato Carioca foi dis-putada no dia 3 de maio de 1906 no Campo da Rua Guanabara, em Laranjeiras: Fluminense 7x1 Paysandu. O tricolor Horácio da Costa marcou o primeiro gol da história do Campetonato Carioca e foi o artilheiro da competição com 18 gols. Não houve empate nas 30 partidas realizadas. Fluminense campeão com nove vitórias e uma derrota.

Há 100 anos 1916: América campeão.

Segundo título da história do América, que obteve nove vitórias em 12 jogos.

O clube sagrou-se campeão na penúltima rodada ao vencer o São Cristóvão por 1x0, no estádio de Figueira de Melo, gol de Gabriel de Carvalho.

A novidade foi a introdução do Torneio Início, vencido pelo Fluminense. O artilheiro foi Aluízio (Botafogo) com 12 gols, que teve o melhor ataque da competição com 30 gols. O América teve a melhor defesa do certame so-frendo apenas 13 gols.

Há 90 anos 1926: São Cristóvão campeão.

Primeiro e único título estadual da história do São Cris-tóvão, que alcançou a incrível marca de 70 gols em 18 jogos. Foram 14 vitórias, dois empates e apenas duas derrotas. No jogo decisivo o São Cristóvão sobrou em campo. Com o artilheiro Vicente em jornada inspirada, venceu o Flamengo por 5 x 1. Com os três gols na deci-são, Vicente passou o vascaíno Russinho e ficou com a artilharia do torneio anotando 26 gols. São Cristóvão: Paulino; Póvoa e Zé Luiz; Julinho, Henrique e Alberto Corrêa; Oswaldo, Octávio, Vicente, Arthur e Teófilo.

Há 80 anos 1936: Vasco e Fluminense campeões.

O campeonato de 1936 foi disputado em duas ligas. O Vasco da Gama foi campeão no certame organizado pela Federação Metropolitana de Desportos (FMD) e o Fluminense pela Liga Carioca de Futebol (LCF). O Vasco foi o campeão do 1.˚ turno e o Madureira vencedor do 2.˚ turno. Foram necessárias três partidas no Campo do Andaraí para se conhecer o campeão. Após perder o primeiro jogo, o Vasco venceu o segundo e forçou a terceira partida, que venceu por 2x1.

Time do Vasco na partida decisiva: Rey, Poroto e Itá-lia; Oscarino, Zarzur (Marcelino Perez) e Calocero; Orlando, Gama (Lauro), Feitiço, Kuko e Luna. Técni-co: Harry Welfare.

Já pela Liga Carioca de Futebol (LCF) o Fluminense foi o campeão marcando 64 gols em 18 jogos. O tricolor Hér-cules foi o artilheiro com 23 gols. A decisão aconteceu em três partidas contra o Flamengo, com dois empates e uma vitória tricolor por 4x1. Time base do Fluminen-se: Batatais, Guimarães, Machado, Marcial, Brant, Oro-zimbo, Sobral, Romeu, Lara, Raul e Hércules

Nunca houve tanto Fla x Flu como em 1936. Foram 10 jogos, sendo seis empates e duas vitórias para cada um.

Há 70 anos 1946: Fluminense supercampeão.

O Campeonato Carioca de 1946 teve que ser decidido num quadrangular em turno e returno reunindo Amé-rica, Botafogo, Flamengo e Fluminense, que termina-ram empatados em primeiro lugar com 26 pontos. A imprensa tratou de batizar este torneio extra de Super-campeonato, vencido pelo Fluminense.

O técnico tricolor Gentil Cardoso pediu e foi atendido: “Deem-me Ademir que eu lhes darei o campeonato”. Ade-mir assinalou 25 dos 97 gols marcados pelo Fluminense no certame, sendo sete deles no quadrangular final.

O Fluminense terminou invicto nesta parte extra do campeonato, considerado um dos mais emocionantes da história: 4x1 e 1x1 (contra o Flamengo), 8x4 e 6x2 (contra o América), 3x1 e 1x0 (contra o Botafogo). O jogo decisivo contra o Botafogo, em São Januário, teve a arbitragem de Mário Vianna, com dois enes, que na sua fase de comentarista de arbitragem bradava a ple-nos pulmões: “Gooooooool Le...gal”

Há 60 anos 1956: Vasco campeão.

O Vasco da Gama faturou o Campeonato Carioca de 1956 vencendo 16 partidas em 22 disputadas, assina-lando 58 gols. Foi derrotado em apenas duas oportu-nidades.

Com a vitória sobre o Bangu por 2x1 e o triunfo do Botafogo sobre o Flamengo na penúltima rodada, os cruzmaltinos sagraram-se campeões de forma ante-cipada. Nessa partida, o “Gigante da Colina” levou a campo a seguinte equipe: Carlos Alberto, Paulinho, Bellini, Orlando, Coronel, Laerte, Lierte, Livinho, Vavá, Valter e Pinga. Técnico: Martim Francisco. Vavá mar-cou os dois gols vascaínos. Mais destaques do time do Vasco campeão de 1956: Sabará, Artoff, Hélio, Ortunho, Valmir, Roberto e Wilson.

Waldo (Fluminense) foi o artilheiro com 22 gols. Pelo Vasco da Gama, os artilheiros foram Walter com 14 tentos e Vavá com 13.

Há 50 anos 1966: Bangu campeão.

O Bangu conquista o segundo título de Campeão Ca-rioca da sua história numa goleada de 3x0 sobre o Fla-mengo, diante de 143.978 torcedores no Maracanã.

Sob o comando do técnico Alfredo Gonzalez, o Bangu venceu 15 das 18 partidas disputadas, marcando 50 gols e sofrendo apenas oito em todo campeonato. O ataque alvi rubro possuía artilharia pesada, tendo Pau-lo Borges (artilheiro do torneio) com 16 gols e Cabralzi-nho (vice-artilheiro) com 15.

Essa partida foi também marcada pelo tumulto gera-do pelo rubro-negro Almir Pernambuquinho, que afir-mara no dia anterior que não haveria volta olímpica, a menos que fosse do Flamengo. O jogo virou panca-daria, confusão generalizada, com expulsão de cinco rubro-negros e quatro alvi rubros, sendo o jogo sendo encerrado aos 25 minutos do 2˚ tempo com o Bangu campeão.

Time base do Bangu: Ubirajara; Fidélis, Mario Tito, Luiz Alberto e Ari Clemente; Jaime e Ocimar; Paulo Borges, Cabralzinho, Ladeira e Aladim.

Há 40 anos 1976: Máquina tricolor bicampeã.

Este foi o primeiro campeonato que contou com a participação de clubes do interior do estado do Rio de Janeiro. E o Fluminense repetiu a conquista do ano an-terior. O presidente tricolor, Francisco Horta, motivou a disputa implementando o “troca-troca” entre os gran-des clubes do Rio de Janeiro. O campeonato bateu o recorde de público da sua história.

Fluminense e Vasco decidiram o título num jogo extra que atraiu 127.052 torcedores ao Maracanã. Partida intensa e a emoção chega ao auge aos 14 minutos do 2˚ tempo da prorrogação. O argentino Doval marca o gol do bicampeonato da máquina tricolor, que justifica a sua força marcando 73 gols no certame. Doval foi o artilheiro com 20 tentos e Gil o vice-artilheiro, com 19.

Há 30 anos 1986: Flamengo campeão.

O Flamengo vence o campeonato numa decisão contra o Vasco, que precisou de três partidas para apontar o campeão: Fla 0x0 Vasco; Fla 0x0 Vasco; Fla 2x0 Vasco, gols de Bebeto e Julio Cesar. Os três jogos levaram ao Maracanã mais de 293 mil espectadores.

O time rubro-negro acumulou apenas 3 derrotas em 25 jogos. Romário tornou-se artilheiro na sua estreia no Campeonato Carioca com a camisa do Vasco marcan-do 20 gols. Roberto Dinamite marcou 19 vezes. Com 16 tentos, Bebeto foi o melhor goleador do Flamengo, que reuniu ainda no seu elenco jogadores como Zé Carlos, Cantarele, Jorginho, Leandro, Guto, Mozer, Adalberto, Andrade, Adilio, Ailton, Bebeto, Vinícius, Alcindo, Julio Cesar, Zinho e Marquinho. Na rodada inaugural deste campeonato, Zico e Sócrates chegaram a jogar juntos. Técnico: Sebastião Larazoni.

Nesse campeonato ocorreu um fato curioso: alegan-do um surto de dengue que atingiu metade do time, o Fluminense (que tentava o tetracampeonato) não compareceu ao jogo contra o Americano, em Campos. A Federação de Futebol do Rio de Janeiro, comadada por Eduardo Viana, não aceitou a justificativa tricolor e decretou o W.O.

Há 20 anos 1996: Flamengo campeão.

O Flamengo conquistou o título de forma invicta, vencendo a Taça Guanabara e a Taça Rio. O time marcou 57 gols em 22 jogos alcançando 18 vitórias e quatro empates.

Romário, o artilheiro da competição com 26 gols, foi o líder da equipe rubro-negra, que tinha ainda no elenco Sávio, Nélio, Mancuso e Marques, comanda-dos por Joel Santana.

Há 10 anos 2006: Botafogo campeão.

A competição que marcou os 100 anos do Campeona-to Carioca foi vencida pelo Botafogo, que teve Dodô na ponta da artilharia com nove gols.

Após ser campeão da Taça Guanabara vencendo o América por 3x1, o Botafogo decidiu o título com o Ma-dureira, que sagrou-se campeão da Taça Rio vencendo o Americano por 1x0.

Nas partidas finais, o Botafogo obteve duas vitórias so-bre o Madureira: 2x0 e 3x1.

Carlos Roberto foi o treinador da equipe, que tinha em Dodô a sua referência. Nas duas partida decisivas, o time-base da estrela solitária foi: Lopes, Ruy, Rafael Marques, Scheidt e Bill (Junior Cesar); Thiago Xavier (Ataliba), Diguinho, Joílson (Gláuber) e Zé Roberto; Reinaldo e Dodô.

This charming event became a momen-tous stage for the history of football, revealing numer-ous generation of football stars driven by the passion of millions of fans.

In the minds of the people and in the social representa-tion of football, the Rio de Janeiro championship has been mistreated by Rio de Janeiro’s football managers. Maracanã is currently closed, stadiums are empty, the quality of games is low, pitches are in awful conditions, teams have been at a financial loss, and Flamengo and Fluminense had to play one another in São Paulo. At 110 years of age, the Rio de Janeiro championship resists.

110 years ago (1906): Fluminense, the first champion

The first match of the Rio de Janeiro Championship was played on May 3, 1906 at the Rua Guanabara pitch, in the neighborhood of Laranjeiras: Fluminense 7x1 Pay-sandu. Fluminense’s Horácio da Costa scored the first goal of the Championship and was the top scorer, with 18 goals. There was no ties in the 30 matches played. Fluminense was the champion, having won nine matches and lost one.

100 years ago (1916): America is the champion

America’s second championship, winning nine out of 12 matches. The club was considered the champion at the second to last round after winning São Cristóvão 1x0 at the Figueira de Melo Stadium, Gabriel de Car-valho having scored the goal. The novelty was the in-troduction of “Torneio Início,” which Fluminense won. The top scorer was Botafogo’s Aluízio, with 12 goals. Botafogo scored the most goals (30). America had the best defense, conceding only 13 goals.

90 years ago (1926): São Cristóvão is the champion

The first and only state championship in the history of São Cristóvão, which scored the incredible number of 70 goals in only 18 matches. The club won 14, tied two and lost only two matches. 70 years ago (1946): Fluminense is the superchampion

The champion of the 1946 Rio de Janeiro Champion-ship had to be decided through a double round rob-in tournament with four teams: America, Botafogo, Flamengo and Fluminense, which were all tied with 26 points each. The media named the extra championship a “Superchampionship,” which Fluminense won.

Fluminense’s coach Gentil Cardoso’s requirement was met: “Give me Ademir, and I will give you the champi-onship.” Ademir scored 25 out of the 97 goals scored by Fluminense in the competition, seven of which in the final four-team matches.

Fluminense finished undefeated this extra part of the championship, which was considered one of the most thrilling in history: 4x1 and 1x1 (against Flamengo), 8x4 and 6x2 (against America) and 3x1 and 1x0 (against Botafogo). The referee of the final match against Bota-fogo, at the São Januário stadium, was Mário Vianna, who later became a referee commentator.

60 years ago (1956): Vasco is the champion

Vasco da Gama won the 1956 Rio de Janeiro Champi-onship winning 16 out of the 22 matches played and scoring 58 goals. It was defeated only twice.

With a victory over Bangu 2x1 and the triumph of Bota-fogo over Flamengo in the second to last round, Vasco was considered the champion. In this match, the “Giant of the Hill” played with the following team: Carlos Al-berto, Paulinho, Bellini, Orlando, Coronel, Laerte, Lierte, Livinho, Vavá, Valter and Pinga. Coach: Martim Francis-co. Vavá scored two goals for Vasco. The 1956 Vasco da Gama team also included Sabará, Artoff, Hélio, Ortun-ho, Valmir, Roberto and Wilson.

Fluminense’s Waldo was the top scorer with 22 goals. Walter (14 goals) and Vavá (13) were Vasco’s top scorers.

50 years ago (1966): Bangu is the champion Bangu won its second Rio de Janeiro championship 3x0 against Flamengo at Maracanã with 143,978 people. Under coach Alfredo Conzalez, Bangu won 15 out of the 18 matches, scoring 50 goals and conceding only eight in the entire championship. The heavy artillery of the white and red attack included Paulo Borges (the top scorer of the championship), who scored 16 goals, and Cabralzinho (the second top scorer), with 15 goals.

There was a commotion during the match because Flamengo’s Almir Pernambuquinho had said the pre-vious day that there would be no victory lap, unless Flamengo was to do it. The match became a brawl. Five Flamengo players and four Bangu players were sent off. The match was interrupted at 25 minutes of the 2nd half, and Bangu was considered the champion. Bangu’s base team was: Ubirajara; Fidélis, Mario Tito, Luiz Alber-to and Ari Clemente; Jaime and Ocimar; Paulo Borges, Cabralzinho, Ladeira and Aladim.

40 years ago (1976): Fluminense’s two-time champi-on machine

This was the first championship that included teams from other cities in the State of Rio de Janeiro. And Flumi-nense won again, just like the previous year. Fluminense’s president, Francisco Horta, motivated an interchange between Rio’s big teams. The championship broke the re-cord attendance. Fluminense and Vasco played the final matched for 127,052 people at Maracanã.

The height of this intense and emotional match was at 14 minutes of the second half of the extra time. Doval, an Argentinean, scored the goal that earned Fluminense its second championship in a row, justifying Fluminense’s strength and the 73 goals scored in the championship. Doval was the top scorer, with 20 goals. Gil was the sec-ond best, with 19. Fluminense’s base team was Renato, Carlos Alberto Torres, Miguel, Edinho and Rodrigues Neto; Carlos Alberto Pintinho, Paulo César Caju and Riv-ellino; Gil, Doval and Dirceu. Coach: Mário Travaglini.

30 years ago (1986): Flamengo is the champion

Flamengo won the championship against Vasco, which required three matches: 0x0, 0x0 and 2x0 (goals scored by Bebeto and Julio Cesar). More than 293 thousand people attended Maracanã for the three matches. Flamengo only lost three out of 25 matches. Romário was the top scorer (20 goals) in his first appearance at the Rio de Janeiro Championship, playing for Vasco. Roberto Dinamite scored 19 goals. With 16 goals, Beb-eto was Flamengo’s top scorer. Flamengo also included players such as Zé Carlos, Cantarele, Jorginho, Leandro, Guto, Mozer, Adalberto, Andrade, Adilio, Ailton, Bebeto, Vinícius, Alcindo, Julio Cesar, Zinho and Marquinho. At the championship’s first round, Zico and Sócrates played together. Flamengo’s coach was Sebastião Larazoni.

A curious fact happened in that year: with an alleged out-break of Dengue fever (which, supposedly, made half the team sick), Fluminense (which attempted being champi-on four times in a row), did not attend the match against Americano, in Campos. The Rio de Janeiro Football Feder-ation, headed by Eduardo Viana, did not accept the Flu-minense’s explanation, and Americano won by walkover.

20 years ago (1996): Flamengo is the champion

Flamengo was undefeated, having won both the Gua-nabara and the Rio Cups. The team scored 57 goals in 22 matches, with 18 wins and four ties. Romário, the top scorer of the competition (with 26 goals), was the leader of Flamengo, which also included players such as Sávio, Nélio, Mancuso and Marques, headed by coach Joel Santana.

10 years ago (2006): Botafogo is the champion

The competition that marked the centennial anniver-sary of the Rio de Janeiro Championship was won by Botafogo, with Dodô as its top scorer.

After winning the Guanabara Cup over America 3x1, Botafogo won against Americano — the champion of the Rio Cup — 1x0.

Botafogo won against Madureira twice at the end of the championship: 2x0 and 3x1. Carlos Roberto was the coach of the team, whose best player was Dodô. At the two final matches, the base team for the clube of the lone star was: Lopes, Ruy, Rafael Marques, Scheidt and Bill (Junior Cesar); Thiago Xavier (Ataliba), Diguinho, Joílson (Gláuber) and Zé Roberto; Reinaldo and Dodô.

A história do futebol carioca é pontilhada de heroísmo e emoção. Ela não é feita só pelos clubes populares de hoje. Basta dizer que nesses 110 anos de Campeonato Carioca, somente oito clu-bes foram campeões: os quatro de maior expressão – Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense e Vasco – além do Bangu, América, Paysandu e o São Cristóvão. Sobre este último é que gostaríamos de falar um pouco.

Seu futebol surgiu em 1909 e na ocasião utilizava o campo de São Cristóvão (o da feira nordes-tina), que possuía três campos para a prática do esporte. Também jogavam nele o América, o Riachuelo e o Mangueira. Para os associados do clube era necessário criar a sua própria praça esportiva, o que de fato ocorreu com a aquisição de um ajardinado nas margens do Rio Joana, isso já em 1915. E com a abnegação e esforço dos seus simpatizantes construíram o Estádio Figueira de Melo, que ora completa 100 anos, e o inauguraram sob uma grande festividade no dia 23 de abril de 1916, para a alegria de todos do bairro imperial.

A imprensa escrita cobriu esse dia emocionante para os alvos. Os cerca de 5 mil presentes que agitavam seus chapéus, lenços e até mesmo choravam, viram a bandeira alva ser desfraldada para receber seus atletas que jogaram contra o Santos. O resultado de 1x1 foi o de menos. A história estava apenas iniciando.

A compensação foi rápida. Em 1918, o primeiro título, o torneio, início. Mas em 1926 veio a consagração total, pois o cetro máximo foi conquistado com o título do Campeonato Carioca, inscrevendo de vez, para todo sempre, o São Cristóvão com letras de ouro nos anais do futebol do estado do Rio de Janeiro.

Com a ilustre presença do Presidente da República – Dr. Washington Luís – o São Cristóvão goleava o Flamengo por 5x1, mesmo tendo seus torcedores organizado uma grande passeata do estádio da Gávea para o estádio da Rua Paysandu.

Um século do estádio Figueira de Melo, 90 anos do título de 1926, marcos que estarão para sempre na história. Hoje o clube se encontra estacionado na segunda divisão, mas aqueles dias gloriosos estarão sempre na memória até mesmo de quem, como nós, só ouvimos falar. O São Cristóvão não morrerá nunca, enquanto houver alguém que torça com fervor pelo seu pavilhão. O São Cristóvão vive!!!

It should suffice to say that, in the 110 years of the Rio de Janeiro Championship, only eight clubs won: the four largest ones — Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense and Vasco — and Bangu, America, Paysandu and São Cristóvão. It is about the latter that we would like to speak a little about.

The club’s football began in 1909. At the time, they used the Campo de São Cristóvão (which today houses a fair of Brazilian northeastern tradition), which had three sports pitches. Amer-ica, Riachuelo and Mangueira also played there. The Club’s members needed their own sports courts, so it bought a landscaped area at the margins of the Joana River, in 1915. With a lot of sacrifice and effort, its supporters built the Figueira de Melo Stadium, which now celebrates its 100th anniversary, inaugurating it with a large celebration on April 23, 1916, to everyone’s delight at the imperial neighborhood.

The written press covered such thrilling day. Around five thousand people waved their hats and handkerchiefs and even cried and they saw their white flag unfurled for their athletes to play against Santos. The tie 1x1 was not a problem. The story was just beginning.

The effort was quickly rewarded. In 1918, the club won its first championship. In 1926, however, came the apex, the scepter was conquered with the Rio de Janeiro Championship which wrote in golden letters the name of São Cristóvão in the history of football in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

With the illustrious presence of Dr. Washington Luís — the president of the Republic — São Cristóvão trounced Flamengo 5x1, despite Flamengo’s fans having organized a walk from Flamengo’s stadium at Gávea to the stadium at Paysandu St.

The 100th anniversary of the Figueira de Melo stadium and the 9th anniversary of the 1926 championship are two milestones that will be forever in the history of the Club. Today, São Cristóvão has been at the B League, but the days of glory will always be in the memory of those, like us, who only heard about them. If only a single person roots with fervor for it, São Cristóvão will never die. São Cristóvão lives!!!

HÁ 50 ANOS, CONQUISTA QUÁDRUPLA NO RIO-SÃO PAULOBotafogo, Vasco da Gama, Corinthians e Santos são os campeões do Torneio Rio-São Paulo de 1966. Há 50 anos, os quatro clubes chegaram na última roda-da com a igualdade em 11 pontos.

Já naquele tempo, as dificuldades relativas ao ca-lendário do futebol impactavam no andamento de algumas competições. Foi exatamente o caso do Rio--São Paulo de 1966. No dia seguinte à rodada final na qual se cristalizou o empate quádruplo, a CBD-Con-federação Brasileira de Desportos faria a convocação da Seleção Brasileira com vistas à preparação para a Copa do Mundo da Inglaterra.

E a convocação alcançou 45 jogadores indicando desde então o verdadeiro devaneio, desorganiza-ção e politicagem que marcaria a preparação do selecionado bicampeão mundial para a Copa do Mundo em solo britânico. Do grupo de convocados, 20 atletas pertenciam ao Botafogo, Vasco da Gama, Corinthians e Santos. Garrincha atuava pelo Corin-thians e foi convocado após ser campeão do Rio--São Paulo pelo Timão.

Antes mesmo da rodada final, as Federações do Rio de Janeiro e de São Paulo apressaram-se em determi-nar que caso mais do que duas equipes terminassem empatadas em número de pontos na primeira colo-cação, todas seriam declaradas campeãs. Isto porque o regulamento não previa critérios de desempate. O Palmeiras poderia ter se juntado aos quatro campe-ões. Caso tivesse vencido o São Paulo na rodada final alcançaria os mesmos 11 pontos. Mas foi derrotado.

A torcida do Botafogo curtiu mais a conquista, pois a equipe teve saldo de gols melhor que os outros três rivais. Contudo, o Torneio Rio-São Paulo de 1966 teve incontestavelmente uma conquista quádrupla.

50 YEARS AGO, A QUADRUPLE TRIUMPH AT THE RIO-SÃO PAULO CHAMPIONSHIPBotafogo, Vasco da Gama, Corinthians and Santos are the champions of the 1966 Rio-São Paulo Cham-pionship. Fifty years ago, the four clubs arrived at the last round with 11 points each.

At that time, there were already problems with the football calendar which posed issues to a few com-petitions. That was exactly what happened in 1966. At the following day of the final round which consoli-dated the quadruple tie, the Brazilian Sports Confed-eration (CBD) would draft the Brazilian Squad for the training leading to the World Cup in England.

The draft included 45 players, indicating the mad-ness, disorganization and politicking that marked the preparation of the two-time World Cup champion on British soil. Out of the players drafted, 20 played in Botafogo, Vasco da Gama, Corinthians and Santos. Garrincha played for Corinthians and was drafted af-ter winning the Rio-São Paulo championship.

Prior to the final round, the Federations of Rio de Ja-neiro and São Paulo hushed to established that, in the case two or more teams finished the championship tied in first place (in number of points), all of them would be considered champions. The regulations did not include any tie-breaking criteria. Palmeiras could have been among the four champions. If it had won São Paulo at the final round, it would also have reached 11 points, but it was defeated.

Botafogo’s fans enjoyed the win more since the club had scored more goals the the other three rivals. Nevertheless, the 1966 Rio-São Paulo Championship had four champions.

A súmula (ainda) não registra, mas para o banguense da gema foi Thomas Donohoe, e não Charles Miller, quem introduziu o futebol no Brasil. Co-nhecido nas quebradas como Seu Danau, o escocês de Busby foi um dos muitos operários europeus que chegaram ao Rio no fim do século XIX para trabalhar na Fábrica de Tecidos Bangu. Donohoe também foi um dos fun-dadores do Bangu Atlético Clube, e hoje um grupo de moradores do bairro quer que seu feito seja reconhecido.

This is not official history, but, for true Bangu fans, it’s Thomas Donohoe — not Charles Miller — who introduced Brazil to football. Donohoe, a Scots-man from Busby, one of the many European workers who came to Rio in the late XIX century to work in the Bangu Textile Factory, was known around as Seu Danau. Donohoe was also one of the founders of the Bangu Athletic Club. Today, one of the neighborhood’s dwellers wants his work recognized.
