“Bastardos” é um documentário realizado no âmbito do projeto de investigação Keep it Simple, Make it Fast!, coordenado por Paula Guerra. O objetivo foi documentar os atores, as narrativas as manifestações punk em Portugal desde o seu surgimento (1977) até à atualidade. Tal como acontece com o seu objeto de análise, o ethos diy acompanha a equipa de investigação que conta com testemunhos importantes do mundo do punk, como Ana Ferrão ou Zé Pedro.
“Bastardos” is a documentary about the socio-musical manifestations of punk in Portugal, since 1977 and up to today. It is based in documents and statements gathered an archived during a research project, as well as the results of the field work of Keep it Simple Make it Fast! (KISMIF). During the 72 minutes of the film, we can hear testimonies from some important punk personalities, such as Ana Ferrão or Zé Pedro.

O duo TochaPestana, uma mistura de música popular portuguesa com o tecno dos anos 80 e os sons eletrónicos dos anos 70, saltou para o mundo do cinema e pelas suas próprias mãos, Gonçalo Tocha e Dídio Pestana produziram um filme que foi feito ao longo de sete anos. Podemos não só assistir às 12 canções que compõem o disco, como à vida da banda enquanto a realização do mesmo.
O percurso de Filipe Mendes, considerado um dos melhores guitarristas nacionais, pelo rock português é longo - desde 1965 passou por bandas como Chinchilas ou Ena Pá 2000. Além dos materiais que reuniu desde 1994, o realizador Paulo Abreu acaba por retratar neste filme biográfico o início do rock em Portugal e o modo como foi explorado pelas várias bandas e músicos.
Os pioneiros portugueses Moonspell incendiaram o mundo com êxitos como “Irreligious” ou “Night Eternal”. O décimo primeiro álbum “Extinct” permite a Fernando Ribeiro colidir os seus tons vocais sombrios com riffs modernos, melodias enegrecidas e grandeza operística. Sempre um passo à frente do resto, resistindo sempre a todas as fronteiras do género.
Para celebrar os 20 anos do álbum de estreia “Viagens” (1994), Pedro Abrunhosa reeditou o mesmo e partilhou -o com os seus fãs em palcos portugueses e internacionais. Aos 53 anos é um dos nomes mais conhecidos do pop rock atual e játem sete álbuns com a sua assinatura.
The TochaPestana duo, a popular portuguese music mix with the techno of the 80s and the electronic sounds of the 70s jumped to the world of cinema by the own hands of Gonçalo Tocha and Dídio Pestana. The film was made over seven years and we can view not only the 12 songs included in the album, like the band’s life while producing it.
Considered by many as one of the best Portuguese guitar players, Filipe Mendes has a path deeply linked to rock - since 1965 he has collaborated with bands like Chinchillas or Ena Pá 2000. In addition to the materials gathered since 1994, Paulo Abreu also portrays in this biopic the beginning of rock music in Portugal.
Portuguese pioneers Moonspell set the world aflame with milestones such as “Irreligious” or “Night Eternal”. Indeed the eleventh studio album “Extinct” lets Fernando Ribeiro`s sombre vocals collide with modern riffing, blackened melodies and operatic grandeur. Always one step ahead of the rest, always resisting all genre boundaries.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the debut album “Viagens” (1994), Pedro Abrunhosa reissued it and shared it with his fans abroad and in Portugal. 53 years Pedro Abrunhosa is one of the best known names of the current pop rock culture and has already seven albums with his signature.

Hugo Conim e Miguel Newton (vocalista dos Mata-Ratos) uniram- se para realizar o primeiro documentário sobre o punk português. Além das imagens de arquivo recolhidas, onde podemos ver atuações de Ku de Judas e Aqui d’el Rock, assistimos ainda a entrevistas de figuras ligadas ao punk como António Manuel Ribeiro (vocalista dos UHF) e Kalu (baterista dos Xutos & Pontapés).
Cinco carrinhas VW, quatro bandas, cerca de 5 mil km, duas semanas e uma estrondosa digressão, descreve bem o filme de Marcus Haney. Após o festival de música SXSW, em Austin, as bandas The Staves, Ben Howard, Nathaniel Rateliff e Bear’s Den decidem fazer- se à estrada e tocar em todos os sítios que lhes era possível. O filme enfeitiçou os vários festivais onde foi exibido.
Hugo Conim and Michael Newton (lead singer of Mata-Ratos) joined with the purpose of directing the first documentary about the Portuguese punk. In addition to the collected archival footage, where we can see performances by Ku de Judas and Aqui d’el Rock, we can also watch interviews of figures linked to punk as António Manuel Ribeiro (UHF singer) and Kalu (Xutos & Pontapés drummer).
Five VW vans, four bands, about 5000 km, two weeks and a great tour can describe the film of Marcus Haney. After the SXSW music festival in Austin, the bands The Staves, Ben Howard, Nathaniel Rateliff, Bear’s Den decide to hit the road and play at all places it was possible. O filme é um seguimento da série realizada por si, “O Povo Que Ainda Canta”, uma odisseia de 26 episódios que mostra a música tradicional e popular de norte a sul de Portugal.
Moving away from Michel Giacometti, Tiago Pereira makes a strong introspection of his own work and how it relates to science in this documentary. The film turns out to be a follow up to his series “O Povo Que Ainda Canta” (“The People Who Still Sing”), a series of 26 episodes that show the traditional and popular music from the north to south of Portugal.

CREATIVE DESPITE WARCRIATIVIDADE APESAR DA GUERRA
Um lado pouco conhecido do mundo afegão é registado no documentário “Creative Despite War”, em que os realizadores decidem deixar de parte o cenário de guerra e dar destaque ao movimento artístico que se espalha pelas ruas do Afeganistão. Ao longo de dois anos juntaram as imagens necessárias de quatro jovens que apesar do controlo que sofrem por parte do governo não desistem e continuam a dar asas à criatividade.
Fantinatto e Amm decidiram explorar o fenómeno do sintetizador modular, considerado o instrumento que veio revolucionar a música eletrónica, ainda hoje usado para criar novos sons. Preenchido por entrevistas de músicos ‘modelares’ como Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) ou Gary Numan, o documentário teve a sua estreia em Berlim, no Babylon Kino.
Neste falso documentário, três raparigas decidem mostrar um lado cómico e ao mesmo tempo honesto de uma banda de rock criada por elas. Com o humor negro sempre em primeiro plano, o documentário conta a história de uma banda de raparigas (BadPuss) que tenta voltar a juntar -se.
Um documentário mas principalmente um retrato do cantor e compositor brasileiro Dominguinhos, falecido em 2013. O filme valoriza a vida e o legado do discípulo de Luis Gonzaga, um dos maiores mestres da música brasileira, através de imagens de arquivo e de encontros musicais com nomes sonantes como Gilberto Gil ou Djavan.
A little known side of the Afghan world is given in the documentary “Creative Despite War”, in which the filmmakers decided to leave aside the scenario of war and to highlight the artistic movement that spreads through the streets of Afghanistan. For two years the directors gathered the necessary footage of four young men who despite the control they suffer from the government, do not give up and continue to be creative.

In this mockumentary three girls decide to show a humorous and honest side at the same time, of a girl’s rock band created by them. Always with black humor in the foreground, the documentary tells the story of a band (BadPuss) that is trying to re join.

A disciple of Luis Gonzaga, Dominguinhos leads a film that enhances the life and legacy of one of the greatest masters of Brazilian music, through images and musical encounters with big names such as Gilberto Gil and Djavan.

In an attempt to unravel the Tupi Guarani myth, filmmakers decided to join the German and Brazilian culture to study the social and cultural interaction between them, where the communication comes from the music and dance. Throughout the documentary is possible to watch the encounter between an orchestra of young Germans with young Brazilian communities.

Cego desde infância devido a um erro médico de uma enfermeira, nunca nada o impediu de parar de tocar. Aliás, Rahsaam Roland Kirk subia ao palco e tocava pelo menos três ao mesmo tempo. “Yorimatã” fala sobre duas mulheres particulares no plano da música popular brasileira: Luhli e Lucina. Autoras de grandes êxitos, dividiam tudo na vida, incluindo o marido, o fotógrafo Luiz Fernando Borges da Fonseca. O filme é uma espécie de celebração da vida que elas levavam, contando com depoimentos de Gilberto Gil, Zélia Duncan e Ney Matogrosso.
O flamenco volta às luzes da ribalta com Paco de Lucía a dar- lhe o merecido destaque. Durante um ano abriu as portas da sua vida a Francisco – o seu filho - e o resultado culminou neste portentoso documentário. Com Paco a narrar a sua própria biografia, ficamos a conhecer histórias da sua infância aos últimos dias em Palma de Maiorca, onde morreu com 66 anos.
The Damned, a primeira banda punk do Reino Unido a lançar um single, é finalmente consagrada neste documentário- tributo à sua longa carreira de 40 anos. Com dados desde 1970, Wes Orshoski’s – que também é o autor de outros documentários, como“Lemmy” (Kilmister, dos Motörhead) , conseguiu delinear os vários passos dados pela banda, com a ajuda de entrevistas a muitos amigos e fãs.
Blind since childhood due to a medical error of a nurse, nothing ever stopped him from playing. Known for its multi instruments, Rahsaam Roland Kirk took the stage and played at least three simultaneously. A real show of his art until the last years of his life, when in 1977 (one year before he died) suffers a heart attack and is with the left hand paralyzed.
“Yorimatã” talks about two particular women of popular Brazilian music: Luhli and Lucina. Authors of great Brazilian hits, they shared everything in life, including their husband, photographer Luiz Fernando Borges da Fonseca. Flamenco is back into the limelight with Paco de Lucía giving it a special attention. For a year, he opened the doors of his life to Francisco, his son, and the result culminated in this superb documentary. With Paco narrating his own biography, we get to know stories about his childhood up to his last days in Palma de Mallorca, where he died with 66 years old.
The Damned, the first punk band in the UK that released a single, is finally recognized with a doc tribute to its long career of 40 years. Virtually travelling to the 70s, Wes Orshoski, who is also the author of other documentaries such as “Lemmy”, was able to outline the various steps taken by the band, with the help of interviews with manyfriends and fans.

Pouco divulgada, a música tailandesa fica restringida às suas fronteiras. Mas graças a Every e Reeve, o documentário “Y/Our Music” retrata os vários géneros musicais deste país, desde as canções populares até ao pop tai. Uma exposição dos sons que acaba por refletir as várias diferenças sociais e que ao mesmo tempo tenta perceber e encontrar a verdadeira entidade da música tailandesa.
Still little known in various corners of the world, the Thai music is restricted to its national boundaries. But thanks to Every and Reeve, the documentary “Y/Our Music” depicts the various genres of this country, from folk songs to the pop tai. An exhibition of sounds that ultimately reflect the various social differences and at the same time, tries to understand and find the true entity of Thai music.

“Who the Fuck is Jett Rebel” makes a faithful portrait of Dutch rock singer Jelte Steven Tuinstra, or Jett Rebel – how he was known on stage – considered as one of the greatest rock stars that the Netherlands met in several decades. Contrary to the image that he passed, Jelte was a man invaded by insecurities.

The history of this band begins in 1972 by American lands. Willing to tell the route of the band that became known for asking fans to climb the stage and to challenge them to drink until they vomit, Andre Horn tells the difficulties of the five musicians, that manage to have a prominent place in music, while a wave of punk invaded New York in the late 70s, early 80s.
Numa espécie de tributo ao jovem sérvio Zivan Pujic, o realizador Ognjen Glavonic segue- o durante os quatro dias que antecedem o festival organizado por Pujic, na sua vila, em Tomasevac, na Sérvia. Nesta 6.ª edição do festival, o jovem músico decidiualargar os horizontes e convidar uma banda estrangeira para atuar.
In a kind of a tribute to the Serbian Zivan Pujic, director Ognjen Glavonic follows him during the four days preceding the festival organized by Pujic, in his village in Tomasevac, Serbia. In this 6th edition of the festival, the young musician decided to broaden the horizons and invite a foreign band to act.

Num projeto desenvolvido no âmbito do RandmKino, diferentes artistas de várias nacionalidades, reuniram- se em Lisboa para tocarem juntos. O festival incentiva à elaboração de curtas -metragens, sempre num espirito não competitivo e de colaboração.
Baseado num poema escrito por John Henry Mackay, Rui Martins adaptou esta peça visual intitulada de “Graal of Muritz”, que já tinha sido criada em 1925 pelo inglês John Berhoff. O nome da curta remete para o local onde o vídeo foi gravado, uma pequena localidade costeira na Alemanha.
“Polysea 35” é uma espécie de ilusão de ótica parecida com a de uma imagem, mas neste caso, com música. Produzido em torno do número 35, é um tema instrumental abstrato que pode ser ouvido em dois tempos diferentes, ao mesmo tempo. Um bom desafio para o cérebro de qualquer um.
In a project developed by RandmKino, different artists of various nationalities gathered in Lisbon to play together. The festival encourages the development of short films, always in a non-competitive and collaborative spirit.
Based on a poem written by John Henry Mackay, Rui Martins adapted this visual piece titled “Grail of Muritz”, which had been created in 1925 by the Englishman, John Berhoff. The name of the short refers to the location where the video was recorded, a small coastal town in Germany.
“Polysea 35” is a kind of optical illusion similar to an image, but in this case, with music. Produced surrounding the number 35, it is an abstract instrument theme, that can be heard at two different tempos, at the same time. A good challenge to the brain.

Mahala fala sobre a banda Cacique’97, a primeira banda de afrobeat formada em Portugal. No total são doze os músicos que dão vida a todos os sons de um projeto que cruza acordes vindos da Nigéria, Brasil e de outros países africanos.
Na primeira edição WantD o desafio foi lançado ao produtor e músico Fred (Orelha Negra, Banda do Mar), que propôs montar e promover um concerto em apenas um mês. Para o conseguir, convidou o pai, o conhecido Kalu da banda Xutos & Pontapés e decidiu produzir as dez músicas da vida do mesmo.
Mahala talks about Cacique’97, the first afrobeat band which was formed in Portugal. In total twelve musicians create all the sounds that cross chords coming from Nigeria, Brazil and other African countries.
In the first edition of WantD the challenge was thrown to the producer and musician Fred (Orelha Negra, Banda do Mar), who proposed setting up and promoting a concert in just one month. To achieve this, he invited his father Kalu, Xutos & Pontapés’ drummer and decided to produce the best ten songs of his life.

Com apenas 20 anos, Douwe Bob Posthuma já é considerado como um dos maiores talentos musicais do seu país. Filho de Simon Posthuma, fundador da lendária banda “The Fool”, o documentário mostra a vida de um rapaz que é diferente de todos os outros da sua idade.

Antes do lançamento de “La Di Da Di”, os Battles abriram a porta do seu estúdio à Ableton. Nele podemos assistir a momentos da composição do álbum, à discussão das várias ideias para as músicas até ao momento em que esta banda de Nova Iorque pisa o solo alemão para um grande concerto.
Ao mesmo tempo que lançava a coletânea “Oceans Apart”, a banda australiana Cut Copy produziu um mini-documentário de 12 minutos que mostra a cultura da dança eletrónica em Melbourne, com a ajuda de muitos artistas locais.
Before the release of “La Di Da Di”, Battles opened the door of the studio, in Rhode Island, to Ableton and the recordings resulted in this mini documentary. In it we can watch moments that the band experienced composing the album, the discussion of various ideas for songs and the concert they presented in Germany.
While releasing the album “Oceans Apart”, Australian band Cut Copy produced a mini 12 minute documentary that shows the culture of the electronic dance music in Melbourne, with the help of many local artists.

“Quase Famosos”, o monumento semi biográfico ao rock dos anos 70 realizado por Cameron Crowe (“Singles”, “Jerry Maguire”, “Vanilla Sky” ou “Pearl Jam Twenty”), e protagonizado por Billy Crudup, Frances McDormand, Kate Hudson, Zooey Deschanel, Anna Paquin ou Philip Seymour Hoffman, é outro Acorde Histórico, de um festival que pretende ter, cada vez mais, boa memória.
Precedendo o lançamento do quarto álbum “Piramida”, Andreas Koefoed documenta a visita do trio dinamarquês Efterklang à cidade mineira russa abandonada, onde a gravação do disco começou no verão de 2011. Acompanhados pelo seu taciturno guarda urso polar russo, o grupo parte numa caça ao tesouro de sons, nos edifícios vazios desta cidade abandonada.
Antes de o punk existir, três irmãos formaram uma banda no início dos anos 70, e começaram a tocar em vários locais. “A Band Called Death” narra a incrível viagem de um conto de fadas que aconteceu quase três décadas mais tarde, quando uma gravação de 1974 sai do sótão e encontra um público de gerações mais novas.
“Música no coração”, o clássico natalício realizado há 50 anos por Robert Wise, regressa ao grande ecrã com a melhor imagem que a tecnologia permite mostrar. Cada fotograma da película original foi digitalizado em 8K e posteriormente reajustado para uma versão de 4K, que será apresentada uma única vez no MuviLisboa 2015, homenageando os atores Julie Andrews e Christopher Plummer.
“Almost Famous” is the semi biographical monument to 70s rock directed by Cameron Crowe (“Singles”, “Jerry Maguire”, “Vanilla Sky” or “Pearl Jam Twenty”). William Miller is a 15 year old kid hired by Rolling Stone magazine to tour with and write about Stillwater, an up and coming rock band. This wonderfully witty coming of age film follows William as he falls face first to confront life, love and lingo.
Following the release of fourth album “Piramida”, Efterklang add another string to their bow with “The Ghost of Piramida”, that documents the Danish trio’s visit to the abandoned Russian mining town where the record’s inception began back in the summer of 2011. Accompanied by their taciturn Russian polar bear guard, the group goes on an audio treasure hunt in the empty buildings of the abandoned town.
Before punk existed, three teenager brothers in the early ‘70s formed a band in their spare bedroom, began playing in a few local gigs and even pressed a single in the hopes of getting signed. “A Band Called Death” chronicles the incredible fairy tale journey ofwhat happened almost three decades later, when a dusty 1974 demo tape made its way out of the attic and found an audience several generations younger.
“The Sound of Music”, the Christmas classic directed 50 years ago by Robert Wise, returns to the big screen with the best image that the technology enables. A woman (Julie Andrews) leaves an Austrian convent to become a governess to thechildren of a Naval officer widower (Christopher Plummer).

regresso da banda lo-fi não inclui baixo - Miguel só há um - e os temas foram re-ajustados e editados em formato EP “Living Room Rehearsal Tapes”.
Lâmina nasceu em 2013 quando Vasco Duarte, Katari, Filipe Homem Fonseca e Sérgio Costa se
juntaram para fazer uma banda inspirada nas raízes setentistas do rock e nas origens do metal. Daqui cresceu uma banda com corpo stoner e alma doom.
After the death of bass player Miguel Afonso in 1999, Galore made a mourning 16 years to music. This return of the lo fi band does not include bass on purpose there is only one Miguel and all the songs were re adjusted and edited in the EP “Living Room Rehearsal Tapes”.
Lâmina was born in 2013 when Vasco Duarte, Katari, Filipe Homem Fonseca and Sérgio Costa got together to create a band inspired by the seventies rock roots and the origins of heavy metal. From this arose a band with stoner body and doom soul.

Let´s Scratch The Movies será um set especial. Kwan vai usar pela primeira vez scratch para manipular som e imagem, através de algumas cenas dos seus filmes favoritos, com uma nova roupagem sonora. Além disso será possível escutar “Good Things Don’t Come Easy”, com as vozes de Valete e Filipe Gonçalves, co-produção de Lhast e baixo de Francisco Rebelo, a sua primeira música a solo, editada em outubro passado.
Tendo crescido envolto em sonoridades de artistas como José Afonso, Simon & Garfunkel, Bob Dylan e Leonard Cohen, o projeto “Tio Rex” surgiu da ambição de um sujeito que almeja a utilização de melodias de guitarra como veículo para alcançar a harmonia de sons que, por oposição a cortarem o silêncio ao se sobreporem ao mesmo, se fundem com ele.
São tão originais quanto surpreendentes e com o ritmo marcado pelos sapatos de Adriana Jaulino, Gil Jerónimo e Tiago Domingues completam um conceito que junta o sapateado e as novas tendências da canção pop numa união mais que perfeita. Do rock à dança, os Les Crazy Coconuts surpreendem ao vivo.
O disco homónimo de Electric Man é aqui apresentado ao vivo no formato inicialmente idealizado. Ao rock eletrónico une -se um espetáculo 3D a cargo de Pedro Carruna, que divaga entre efeitos visuais, diversas filmagens e amostras que jogam em sintonia com o ritmo presente, com uma forte estética cinematográfica.
De murmúrios a gritos melódicos, de voz rasgada e de guitarradas dedilhadas a comboios de ritmo, o Tiago não está por aqui só para comer e beber mas para fazer a diferença no mundo da música com a sua estampa de Mongrel Folk. EP de estreia está gravado e vai sair do forno em breve. O melhor é servir enquanto está quentinho.
Let’s Scratch The Movies will be a special set. Kwan will use for the first time scratch to manipulate sound and image, through some scenes of his favorite movies, though they might sound a little different. The self titled album of Electric Man is here presented live on the initially idealized format. To the electronic rock joins a 3D spectacle in charge of Pedro Carruna, which wanders between visual effects, several films and samples playing in tune with the present pace, with a strong cinematic aesthetics.
From gentle whispers to melodic shouting, fingerpicking guitars to train ride rhythms, his live sets have captured audiences from New York to Paris and London to Berlin. Armed with a distinctive voice, honest lyrics and intelligently crafted songs, Saga delivers his ‘babies’ with aplomb and makes a strong point of stamping his self titled brand of Mongrel Folk on the music world.

Jornalista e produtora de conteúdos há 16 anos, foi editora da revista Forum Estudante e diretora editorial do jornal Mundo Universitário. Desenvolve trabalhos de copywriting e publicou recentemente “A Gloriosa Bicicleta Compêndio de Costumes, Desvarios e Emoções em Duas Rodas” (LeYa, 2013).
Journalist and producer of content for 16 years, Laura was the editor of Forum Estudante magazine and editorial director of Mundo Universitário newspaper. Develops copywriting work and published recently “A Gloriosa Bicicleta Compêndio de Costumes, Desvarios e Emoções em Duas Rodas” (LeYa, 2013).

Joana Carvalho Fernandes was Portuguese news agency correspondent in Paris from 2011 to 2013. She also collaborated with RTP and Radio Renascença. She works in Sábado magazine since February 2014.
Está desde 2009 na agência Lusa, mas no passado a escrita de opinião e a análise musical e fílmica eram já uma constante. Editou a secção de música na revista DIF, colaborou com projetos como Rua de Baixo ou Mondo Bizarre e atualmente ainda integra as webzines Altamont e Máquina de Escrever.
Working since 2009 in the Portuguese news agency Lusa, although music and film analysis were already a constant back then. Pedro edited the music section on DIF magazine, collaborated with projects like Rua de Baixo or Mondo Bizarre and currently writes for Altamont and Máquina de Escrever.
