1. Reporte de investigación: Se observó que Dietilestilbestrol (DES) es

una droga “efectiva” para el “apoyo de la función placentaria”.

2. Médico Obstetra:

a) Consultado por paciente embarazada con dos muertes fetales anteriores.

Tercer embarazo. Prescribe DES y nace niño vivo y “sano”.

b) Cuarto embarazo. Prescribe nuevamente DES y nace niño vivo y

“sano”.

c) Quinto embarazo. No se prescribe DES, confiando en que la paciente

había recuperado su “capacidad reproductiva” y se produce muerte fetal

por “Insuficiencia Placentaria”.

d) Sexto embarazo. Se administra DES y nace niño vivo y “sano”.

1. Liggins(1969): Observó que ovejas cuyas madres habían sidoexpuestas a corticosteroides tenían menor incidencia de SDR que el esperado.

2. Liggins(1970): Realiza experimento controlado administrandocorticosteroides a ovejas preñadas y se registró menor incidencia de SDR en las crías que en las crías de ovejas de control.

3. Liggins-Howie(1972): Estudio controlado en humanos. Administración prenatal de corticoides en madres con parto prematurodisminuye riesgo de SDR en relación con las madres del grupo de control.

4. Mac Arthur(1982): Seguimiento a largo plazo de los niñosexpuestos a corticoides y sus controles no obsevándose efectosindeseables.
