Reactions 1489, p29 - 22 Feb 2014 O S Paracetamol overdose Acute hepatic failure: case report A 24-year-old woman developed acute hepatic failure following intake of 100 paracetamol [acetaminophen] tablets. The woman was admitted with vomiting and abdominal pain after she took 100 tablets of paracetamol [dose, route and time to reaction onset not stated]. Her ALT was 1883 U/L and her AST was 677 U/L on the first day. She was diagnosed with acute drug toxication, acute hepatic failure. She was treated with haemoperfusion and 6 days later, her ALT and AST decreased back to a normal level.
