Currículo - oradores

Profª. Drª. Natasha Olby, VetMB, PhD, DACVIM Natasha Olby gained her veterinary degree from

Cambridge University in 1991, and after a brief period

spent in mixed general practice, returned to Cambridge

to complete a PhD in spinal cord injury and a surgical

training. Following completion of her PhD and post doctoral research, she

moved to North Carolina State University to do a neurology/neurosurgery

residency and she has stayed at NCSU as a faculty member since then. She

is currently a professor of neurology/neurosurgery and a past president of

the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Neurology specialty.

Her research interests are spinal cord injury and neurodegenerative

diseases.

Neurology (ESVN), Sociedade Portuguesa de Neurociências (SPN),

Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS), International Brain

Research Organization

(IBRO). Autor de várias publicações nacionais e internacionais na área da

neurologia clínica, da regeneração do sistema nervoso e da

neuromecânica.

Prof. Dr. Vladimír Jekl, MVDr, PhD, DipECZM

(Small Mammal)

Vladimír Jekl is a 2002 graduate of the University of

Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno, Czech

Republic, where he now serves as an assistant professor at the avian and

exotic animal clinic. He has practised exclusively exotic animal medicine

since 2002 and is a European Recognised Specialist in Zoological Medicine

(Small Mammal). He has lectured extensively throughout Europe

and has published numerous articles dealing with exotic animal medicine

in regional and international journals. His current focus involves dental

disease, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging and surgery in small

mammals.

Prof. Dr. Lorenzo Crosta, med vet, PhD

Lorenzo Crosta graduated full marks in Veterinary

Medicine at the University of Milan and received his PhD

from the University of Turin. After working as a

practitioner for 10 year, he took the position of

Veterinary Director of the Loro Parque, in Tenerife, the largest collection

of parrots of the world.

Since mid 2005 he is back to Italy, where he is mainly working asconsultant for various zoos and bird collections, in Italy, Spain, Portugal,

Switzerland and Brazil.

He has been a member of the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority)

panel “Animal health and welfare risks associated with the import of wild

birds other than poultry into the European Union”.

Furthermore, he is the official veterinarian of the recovery program

of the Spix’s and Lear’s macaws, two of the most endangered bird species.

He has been and is still cooperating with national and international

journals and has published several paper and book chapters.
