College of Agriculture, Balaghat, (Waraseoni) wasestablished on 15th September, 2012 in the campus ofRegional Agriculture Research Station (RARS),Waraseoni,located 4 km away from city of Waraseoni on Waraseoni-Lalburra Road. The campus is popularly known as MurjhadFarm as the RARS is located near the village Murjhad.Geographically, the college is situated at 21°45’N Latitude80°50’E Longitude with an elevation of 301.5 above meansea level. The area comes under the Chhattisgarh PlainsAgro Climatic Zone.The college is pioneer in development of extra early ricehybrids suitable for double cropping especially for ricefallow area. In the field of extension, college has developedclose contact with the farmers of the area through ICAR-Farmers’ FIRST Project, ICAR project on promotion andexpansion of Quinoa in rice fallow areas. In the year 2019,Peer Reviewing Committee of ICAR accredited the collegewith score of 3.01 out of 4.00 scale. Area has potential togrow bamboo species especially Dendrocalamus strictus,Bambusa bambos, Bambusa tulda, Bambusa balcooa,Bambusa vulgaris etc.
We are in the midst of the corona virus crisis. It isimperative that, an information regarding crops and otherfarm technologies should reach at famers in time tominimize the effect of COVID-19 on the country's foodsecurity and employment generation through differententerprises. The World Food Programme (WFP) has notedthat the COVID-19 crisis is "Threatening to effect millions ofpeople already made vulnerable by food insecurity andmalnutrition." Along with food insecurity, unemployment isone of the problem now a day our country facing. Changingclimatic conditions may also affects on the agricultureproduction. To mitigate such problems, we need to searchother options for food production and employmentopportunities. Bamboo, which is an important forestproduce, has high significance in socio economic life of ruralIndia. It is said to be poor man's timber and put tomultifarious uses for various livelihood options. Bambooarea of the country is estimated as 8.96 million hectares andthe total growing stock (green weight) is 80.428 milliontons. Annual production of bamboo is estimated as32,30,000 tons in the country. North Eastern states have28% of the area and 66% of the growing stock. MadhyaPradesh has 20.3% of the area and 12% of the growing
stock. Based on the potential of the bamboo sector in employmentgeneration through nursery management, bamboo production,aggarbatti manufacturing, paper & pulp industry, bamboohandicraft manufacturing, bamboo furniture, production of edibleproducts etc. is an area which can solve the problems of thepresent situation. Therefore, we are going to organize NationalLevel Webinar on BAMBOO: THE AMAZING GRASS - Cultivation toCommercialization on the occasion of World Bamboo Day (18thSeptember, 2020)

2. Made aware researchers/scholars/farmers andimprove their skill about bamboo productiontechniques.
3. Give an information about nursery management,bamboo production and processing for employmentgeneration
