1929 - Implantação da Companhia Nipônica de Plantação do Brasil na Fazenda Bela Vista, quando chegaram os primeiros colonos japoneses (43 famílias, num total de 189 pessoas)

Início da década de 30 – produção de verduras e juta.

Instalada em 1931, a Cooperativa de Hortaliças

1933 - Introdução de mudas de pimenta do reino.

Em 1949 recebeu a denominação de Cooperativa Agrícola Mista de Tomé-Açu - CAMTA

Início da década de 70 – doenças nos pimentais (principalmente fusarium solani f. sp. piperis) .

Década de 70 ~80 - introdução de culturas alternativas (cacau híbrido, maracujá, mamão, melão, graviola, acerola...).

1987 – Primeira agroindústria do município (CAMTA) com apoio muito importante da JICA.
