A SALA DE AUDIÇÃO

O formato da sala de audição tem grande influência na qualidade do som emitido pelas caixas acústicas. A formação de ondas estacionárias causada por reflexões do som entre paredes paralelas provoca reforços e cancelamentos do som, tornando a reprodução de graves retumbante ou deficiente, dependendo da posição do ouvinte. A solução óbvia para este problema é evitar paredes paralelas na sala de audição, o que nem sempre é possível a menos que ela seja planejada durante a construção da residência. Levando em conta que a maioria das salas residenciais tem formato retangular, os melhores resultados são obtidos com as três dimensões da sala (altura, largura e comprimento) de acordo com a “regra de ouro” na proporção de 1 / 1,6 / 2,6. O pior resultado é obtido numa sala cúbica, que deve ser evitada ao máximo, já que as três ondas estacionárias ocorrerão na mesma freqüência, deste modo reforçando o efeito indesejável.

A localização das caixas acústicas no ambiente de audição é talvez o fator mais importante para a obtenção de uma correta imagem estereofônica, portanto é importante seguir algumas regras básicas na sua instalação. No caso de uma instalação estéreo as caixas L e R (esquerda e direita) devem ser localizados na mesma parede da sala, aproximadamente na altura dos ouvidos das pessoas sentadas e separadas por uma distância igual à distância do local de audição, consistindo em um triângulo eqüilátero entre a caixa L, a caixa R e a posição do ouvinte. Para evitar reflexões prematuras é conveniente afastar as caixas pelo menos 50 cm das paredes próximas (fundo e laterais).

A existência de superfícies refletoras de som como concreto ou vidro ou ao contrário, absorvedoras de som como tapetes ou cortinas influenciam na qualidade do som emitido, de modo que um adequado balanço nestas superfícies é mandatório para se obter uma reprodução sonora agradável. De uma maneira geral, numa sala muito viva (com muitas superficies refletoras de som) a música soará estridente e confusa enquanto que numa muito “morta” (com muitas superfícies absorvedoras de som) teremos uma reprodução apagada e sem vida (para mais informações pesquisar “Tempo de Reverberação” no seu site de busca preferido da Internet).

No caso de uma instalação de Home Theater, a localização das caixas acústicas é ainda mais crítica, já que o objetivo desta instalação é colocar o espectador/ouvinte no meio da ação que se desenrola no filme. Para isso as caixas L e R (esquerda e direita) devem ser distanciadas cerca de 3 a 5 metros uma da outra (dependendo da posição dos ouvintes) e com os tweeters aproximadamente na mesma altura da caixa central (C). Devido à presença do televisor isto nem sempre é possível, portanto uma diferença de nível entre os tweeters das caixas L/R e da C de 50 cm é aceitável.

As caixas acústicas SR (surround) devem ser instaladas na parede traseira ligeiramente acima da linha dos ouvidos, de modo a produzir um som difuso e não localizável.

É recomendável experimentar várias posições para as caixas acústicas de modo a escolher a configuração que melhor resultados propicie, tanto em termos de qualidade sonora como em imagem estereofônica.

THE LISTENING ROOM

The shape of the listening room has great influence in the sound quality of your speakers. Standing waves caused by reflections in parallel walls

lead to sound peaks and valleys and can make bass sound booming or weak, depending on the listening position. The most obvious solution is to avoid

parallel walls in the listening room, not always possible, unless it is planned during the house construction. Taking in account that the majority of listening

rooms are rectangular, the best results are achieved with the three dimensions (height, width and length) following the so called “golden rule” in the

proportion of 1 / 1.6 / 2.6. The worst case is a cubic room that should be avoided as much as possible as the three standing waves will happen in the same

frequency thus reinforcing the undesirable effect.

The location of the speakers in the listening room is probably one of the major factors in achieving a proper stereo image, so it is important to

follow some basic rules on their installation. In the case of a stereo set up, both the L and R (left and right) speakers should be located in the same wall,

approximately at the height of the listeners' ears and separated by the same distance from them to the speakers, thus consisting in a equilateral triangle

between the speaker L, R and the listening position. In order to avoid early reflections it is convenient to place the speakers at least 1.5 feet from the

adjacent walls (back and lateral).

The presence of sound reflecting surfaces like concrete or glass, or contrary sound absorbing ones like tapestry, upholstery and rugs have a

great impact in the sound quality, so a proper balance is these surfaces is mandatory in order to achieve a pleasant reproduction. Generally speaking the

music in a “live” listening room (with high content of reflecting surfaces) will sound harsh and confuse whereas in a “dead” room (with high content of

absorbing surfaces) it will be dull and lifeless (for more information on this topic, please check “Reverberation Time” at your Internet favorite search

engine).

In the case of a Home Theater set up, the location of the speakers is even more critical as the goal of this system is to place the spectator/listener

in the middle of the movie action. To this end the speakers L, and R (left and right) should be placed 10 to 15 feet from each other (depending on the

position of the listeners) and with tweeters at approximate same height of the C (center) speaker. As due to the presence of the TV this is not always

possible, a difference between the L/R and C tweeters level of 1.5 feet is allowable.

The surround speakers (SR-L and SR-R) should be installed in the lateral walls (system 5.1) or lateral and back walls (system 7.1), slightly

above the height of listeners´s ears, in order to produce a diffuse sound with origin not easily detectable.

It is highly recommendable to experiment various locations for the speakers in order to choose the configuration that produces the best result in

terms of overall sound quality as well as stereo image. Small variations in the position of the speakers can lead to substantial improvements in these

characteristics.

INSTALAÇÃO

Todas as caixas acústicas devem ser ligadas ao Receiver/Amplificador respeitando rigorosamente a polaridade (terminais + e -) de todos os componentes, sendo recomendável para isso utilizar cabos polarizados. A inversão da polaridade em quaisquer componentes do sistema prejudicará a imagem estereofônica e poderá causar redução na emissão de graves.

Também devem ser usados cabos de menor comprimento possível e bitola adequada (máxima resistência total do cabo 0,2 ohms), de modo a evitar perda de potência transmitida do receiver para as caixas.

INSTALLATION

All speakers should be connected to the Receiver/Amplifier following strictly the polarities (terminals + and -),

being recommendable to use polarized cables (black/red). The inversion of the polarity of any of the speakers will

deteriorate the stereo image and could also cause loss of bass.

Cables should have the shortest length possible and suitable gauge (maximum cable resistance 0.2 ohms),

in order to avoid loss of power transmitted from the receiver/amplifier to the speakers.

Bi-cabeamento e Bi-amplificação

As caixas acústicas BSA Floorstanding possuem na parte traseira dois pares de terminais que permitem o bi-cabeamento ou bi-amplificação.

As caixas saem de fábrica com barras de cobre ligando os dois pares de terminais de modo a permitir o uso de um cabo convencional com dois condutores. Para esse tipo de ligação as barras devem ser mantidas e o cabo de ligação da caixa acústica ao amplificador conectado a qualquer um dos pares de terminais (LF ou HF), mantendo a polaridade correta (fig. 1).

Caso deseje usar o bi-cabeamento retire as barras de ligação desapertando os bornes e conecte a caixa acústica ao amplificador utilizando um cabo com dois condutores para cada par de terminais (LF e HF), igualmente respeitando as polaridades corretas (fig. 2).

Bi-wiring and Bi-amping

The BSA Floorstanding speakers are supplied with two pairs of terminals that allow bi-wiring or bi-amping.

The speakers leave the factory with the terminals connected together with copper links thus allowing the se of a conventional two-core cable. For this type of connection leave the links in place and wire the speakers to the amplifier using either pair of terminals, keeping the right polarity (fig. 1).

If bi-wiring is your choice, remove the copper link by loosening the terminal caps and use a separate two-core cable from the amplifier to each pair of terminals, again making sure the polarity is observed (fig. 2).

All connections should be made with the equipament turned off.

Limpeza

As caixas acústicas devem ser limpas com um pano seco ou levemente umedecido com água. Não utilizar álcool nem produtos de limpeza já que eles podem causar danos ao revestimento das caixas.

Cleaning

Speaker cabinets should be cleaned using just a damp cloth. DO not use any cleaning liquid as they can damage the cabinet cover.

Na hipótese de uso da bi-amplificação (amplificadores separados para as baixas e altas frequências), retire igualmente as barras de ligação e conecte o amplificador de baixas frequências ao par de terminais marcado LF e o de altas frequências ao par de terminais marcado HF, também certificando-se de manter as polaridades dos amplificadores iguais às dos terminais (fig. 3).

R To make use of bi-amping (separated amplifiers for low and high frequencies) similary remove the cooper links and connect the low frequency amplifier to terminal pair marked LF and the high frequency amplifier to the terminal pair marked HF. Once again make sure the speakers polarities are the same as in amplifier (fig. 3).

This system improves the performance of the 5.1 as the side and back sound effects are reproduced with greater detail. It comprises three front speakers L, C and R (right, center and left) plus four surround speakers, SRL-L, SRL-R, SRB-L and SRB-R (side/back and left/right). A pair of Floorstanding speakers should be used for position L and R, one BSA-44 or BSA-55 for C position and BSA-4 for all surround speakers. As Floorstanding speakers reproduce the entire range of audible sounds, the use of a subwoofer is optional.

The BSA speakers provide excellent sound reproduction in conventional Hi-Fi systems . This system comprises two speakers, L (left) and R (right).

As caixas acústicas BSA apresentam ótimos resultados em sistemas Hi-Fi convencionais, proporcionando altíssima qualidade sonora. Sistema composto de duas caixas L e R (esquerda e direita).

This system reproduces with maximum realism all the sound effects of the movie, placing you in the center of the action. It is composed of three front speakers L, C and R (left, center and right) plus two surround speakers, SR-L and SR-R (left and right). GARANTIA

O Departamento de Garantia da Qualidade da BSA, presente em todas as fases do processo produtivo, desde o recebimento da matéria-prima até o teste final, garante a qualidade deste produto pelo prazo de 1 (um) ano a contar da data da compra. Graças aos cuidados na sua fabricação, este produto dificilmente apresentará defeitos. Entretanto, na improvável ocorrência de uma falha de fabricação, leve o produto junto com a nota fiscal à loja onde você efetuou a compra, para que seja enviado à BSA, que após análise do defeito, efetuará o reparo.

LIMITAÇÕES DA GARANTIA

1. O produto perderá a garantia se na análise for constatada a ocorrência de modificações ou reparos realizados por empresa ou pessoa não autorizada pela BSA.2. A presente garantia será extinta se caixa acústica apresentar alguns dos seguintes defeitos: alto-falantes com cone rasgado, perfurado ou molhado, carcaça amassada ou quebrada e bobina móvel queimada por uso inadequado ou fora das especificações. O acabamento externo da caixa acústica não é coberto por esta garantia.3. Esta garantia não é transferível e é valida apenas em favor do comprador original, desde que a compra seja devidamente comprovada.4. Caso a BSA decida modificar ou alterar o desenho e/ou realizar melhorias técnicas neste produto, não será obrigada a incluir estas mudanças em qualquer produto anteriormente fabricado.5. A garantia ora concedida engloba tão somente a substituição ou o conserto do produto defeituoso, não responsabilizando a BSA pelo pagamento de qualquer indenização, seja a que título for.6. LIMITED WARRANTY

BSA warrants this product to be free of defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of original purchase.

This warranty is not transferable and applies only to the original retail purchaser of the product from an authorized BSA dealer. Should service be necessary under this warranty for any reason due to manufacturing defect or malfunction, BSA will, at its sole option, repair or replace the defective product with new or remanufactured product at no charge.

This warranty is void and inapplicable if BSA deems that product has been used or handled other than in accordance with instructions provided by manufacturer, including but not limited to damage caused by accident, mishandling, improper installation, abuse, negligence, or normal wear and tear, or any defect caused by repair to the product by anyone other than BSA or an authorized BSA dealer.

REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT UNDER THIS WARRANTY IS THE EXCLUSIVE REMEDY OF THE CONSUMER/PURCHASER. BSA SHALL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, EXCEPT TO THE EXTENT PROVIDED (OR PROHIBITED) BY APPLICABLE LAW.
