E Welina Mai Welcome to Lyon Arboretum
The Harold L. Lyon Arboretum occupies 193 acres of tropical rainforest. There are more than 8,000 taxa of plants throughout the grounds, over 7 miles of hiking trails, and an elevation gradient from 450 to 1,850 feet above sea level. In addition to the Living Collection, we support education, research, and conservation in all Arboretum Departments.
Rules and Safety Guidelines• Trails may be narrow, slippery, and uneven. Wear
appropriate footwear with good traction.• Insect repellant is recommended.• Beware of falling branches.• Avoid entering streams or ponds, especially if you
have open cuts or wounds. Leptospirosis and other harmful bacteria may be present in the water or soil.
• Do not drink stream water or eat any plant material.• Picking or removal of plant material is prohibited.• Destruction, disturbance, or pollution of the
watershed and Arboretum grounds are prohibited.• Introduction of outside plants or animals is
prohibited.• Pets are prohibited. Service animals must have
service permits and be on leash and under control.• Smoking is prohibited.• The use of drones is prohibited.
Arboretum admission is free; however, a suggested donation of $5 - 10 is appreciated. Mahalo.
