By VAPTECH standards a small hydropower plant is aplant with one or several turbine-generator units wherethe unit capacity is not more than 10 MW.

Small Hydro

A Turnkeysolution is a symbol of complexity andcompleteness of the hardware and services within thescope of supply.

The turnkey or water-to-wire (W2W) or single-source-supply solution for a small hydropower plant includes thecomplete electromechanical power generating packageof equipment along with related services that start withguiding consultations in the project start stage andcomplete with a total project management throughoutthe lifetime of the power plant.

As a rule, the VAPHYDRO Scope of supplyis adaptedto the customer desire. Although we would gladly offerthe in-house designed and in-house manufactured state-of-the-art turbines, inlet valves and automation systemswe strongly recommend the single-source-supplyapproach where VAPTECH will supply the completeelectromechanical package:

Based on our knowledge and experience andpartnerships with leading design houses we are able tooffer optimized turbines for each small hydropowerproject. These turbine designs are a result of a fully

parameterized model that goes through digitaldevelopment.

We design in-house the turbine, main inlet valve and wecreate the turbine governor software.

Design

The turbine or the heartof the hydropower plant ismanufactured in our own mechanical workshop. Theproduction facility is the home of more than 300

employees with a centurial experience in manufacturingtechnology, planning and execution for small- and large-hydro turbines and valves.

VAPTECH workshop is able to deliver all the processesfrom plate development to surface treatment and factoryassembly and testing.

The in-house manufacturing is a guarantee for perfectcontrol on the most important and critical pathcomponents that finally result in an optimized andshortest delivery time for the complete scope of supply

of the project.

Manufacturing

The successful realization of the complete hydropowerproject requires a permanent coordination and timingbetween the contractor and its customer on one handand between the contractor and its suppliers on theother hand.

These interactions are facilitated by VAPTECH project

managers who make sure that the project runs smoothlyand keep the customer informed through regularreporting of the progress.

Project management

The Boutiqueapproach or also custom- or tailor-madeensures that the core components and thus thecomplete hydropower system are designed to match

exactly the ambient natural and project specifics.

This results in a solution that is economically optimizedfor the maximum and long-term yield for the customer.
