"The student does not simpilyacept asgiven any asertionthat by aknowledging theaccuracy of the critique orchallenge." I agree because Ineed an explainaion when I dosomething.

"The student identifies andevaluates material andsources..."I think I'm doingalright here

"The student constructs well-reasoned arguments or proofsto explain phenomena orissues..." proof and sourcesare always needed whenexplaining something.

"The student analysescompetingand conflictingdescriptions of an event orissue to determine thestrengths and flaws in eachdescrition..." everyone'sinterpretation of a thing thatmight look like one thing mightbe the oposite of the other's.

    Marcoluis Garcia

"Such openmindedness helpsstudents" essential, Conleywants the alumni to keep anopen mind and accept others'spoint of view.

"The student...seeks evidenceto defend arguments" a personshould asks questions abouteverything, however, one mustaccept the argument of theopposing person.

"The student identifies andevaluates data" A student hasto be able to interpret data andcompare many findings.

"The student constructs wellreasoned argument" One mustbe able to defend yourargument, accept the other'spoint of view, and create alogical rebutal.

"analyzes... strengths andflaws in each description" Astudent could be able toidentify what is wrong with adescription, or what they enjoyof the description.

"the student knows what typeof precision is appropriate" aperson must know what theymust do at a specific time.Rather than just using random"precision".

"the student develops andapplies multiple strategies", insimpler terms, one must beable to overcome obstaclesthat one faces in life andschool.

"students are evaluated atleast to some degree[writing]"a student must be able to writea flawless essay while usingmultiple drafts.

"require students to be able to

identify and utilize appropriatestrategies" college wants thestudents to search for accurateevidence and researchimportant topoics forassignments

"such opendmindeness helpsstudents" basically, Conleywants people to keep theirheads and up and to continuedoing what ever it s that theydo and accept other peoplespoint of view.

"The student does not simpilyacept asgiven any asertionthat by aknowledging theaccuracy of the critique orchallenge." I agree because Ineed an explainaion when I dosomething and it is far morehelpful when im able to getsome background on thesubject at matter.

"the student identifies andevaluates data" A student hasto be able to interpret data andcompare many findings.

"Students construct wellreasoned arguments" eachstudent shoud be able todefend and backup their claim

"analyzes. . .strengths andflaws in each description" Astudent could be able toidentify what is wrong with adescription, or what they enjoyof the description by usingannotation or marginalia.

"precisinon is apropitate to thetask" its very importantbecause because you must beable to know exactly what thesubject at matter is and youmust have the rightinformation.

"the student develops andapplies multiple strategies",basically a person must beable to overcome challengesand learn to develop newones.

"students are evaluated atleast to some degree" astudent must be able to write aessay while using multipledrafts to end with a flawlessfinal draft that will be turned in.

"require students to be able toidentify and utilize appropriatestrategies" college wants thestudents to do reaserch foraccurate evidence and thenbe able to do more reaserchfor assigements

"the students possessescuriosity and a thirst for deeperunderstanding" having anopened mind which tells usthat students have that type ofthirstyness from learning. theyhave that eager to learn.

"seeks Evidence to defendarguments" this is relevantbecause, in order to to haveyour arguments really good, you need good back upevidence to support youraudience.

"identifying and evaluatingdata, material, and sources, for

quality of content, validity, credibility and revelance." Bybeing accountable in a subjectareas students are able tofollow procedures andcomplete all tasks that areassigned

"defend a point of view orconclusion" this means thatyou need to show your point ofview and be able to to back itup with a reasoning

"to determine the strengthsand flaws in each description."

this is meaningful to mebecause, you need todetermine what your talkingabout and be able to indentifyyou need help in and whatyour strong in, in order to havea good essay.

"precision is appropiate to thetask" its very importantbecause because you must beable to know exactly what thesubject at matter is and youmust have the rightinformation.

"ways of knowing" this is goodbecause, you need to knowgood strategies in order to bea good reader/writer.

"students are evaluated atleast to some degree in nearlyevery postsecondary course."being descriptive using theparts of speech and writing in

"questions the views of otherswhen those views are notlogially supported, acceptsconstructive criticism"allows astudent to learn more byquestioning and develop anargument towards that matter;it also helps to accept criticismbecause it shows one is ableto view the positive/negativeaspects of one's argument.questioning is really big toobecause one doesnt go bywhat others say and insteadthey look more into it.

"seeks evidence" is anothergood strategy that will help onedevelop their argument withfacts or experiments.

"compares and contrastssources" helps students seethe difference in arguments;italso allows one to developtheir own opinion about thetopic in which one wouldanalyze why the source says itand if there is bias in thissource. comparing andcontrasting sources also giveone the opportunity to developa concrete interpretation ofwhat one is analyzing

"accepts critique...andaddresses critiques" is a majorpoint because one may acceptthe critique however notaddress it;which really doesnthelp the person fully defendtheir argument when critiquesare left unanswered, this alsojust shows one doesntunderstand completely theirown argumet if they cannotrefute or address the critique.

"coherent explanation" standsout because one can have thebest argument, anaylsis, orinterpretation but if the persondoes not have a well explainedexplanation then it reallyserves no point becauseothers wont be able tounderstand their argument, analysis or interpretation

"uses precision...reach correctconclusions.." helps studentsknow how precison must beused for and if one needs towork on that

"multiple strategies" will helpone problem solve becausehe/she will not give up if theirfirst approach doesnt work

"write alot...in short periods oftime" is what is necessary todo in college and for studentsits a goal they should have inmind because college dealswith alot of writing

"students must be able toevaluate the apprpriateness ofa variety of source materialand then synthesize andincorporate the material intothe a paper or report"helpsstudents understand keppoints one needs know tomake a great report whichwould be to "evaluate","synthesize" and"incorporate"

    maria navarro

"the students possessescuriosity and a thirst for deeperunderstanding" having anopened mind

"the students engages inactive inquiry and researchquestions.." means to askquestiong you feel confusedabout, defending your postionon what you think

"the student indentifies andevaluates data, material, &source.." making sure you doeverything you need to do & byasking what you need help on.revising what you did

"student construct well-reasoned arguments.." arguingfor what you think is right untillyou give a reasoning answerthat no one can argue back

"students analyze competingand conflicting descriptions ofan event or issue.." being ableto explain using resources

"students know what type ofprecision in appropriate to thetask..." knowing what to do &say and the right time

"...states the interpretation is ismore likely correct or is mostreasonable" to state somethingthat is correct one must haveaccutate evidence

"...uses precision appropriatelyto reach correct conclusion" tobe able to reach correctconclusion one must first learnhow to use precisionappropriately

"Without the capability to thinkin these ways, the enteringcollege student eitherstruggles mightily until thesehabits begin to develop..." Thisquote really stood out to mebecause it's the naked truth. You have to be able to havethe thinking skills and beopened minded if not you'llstruggle.

"Students need to know how topre-write, how to edit, and howto re-write..." This is a skill thatstudents are learning inhighschool and should beexperts at this when they gointo college as essentials.

"they must also be able toaccess a variety of types ofinformation from a range oflocations, formats, and sourceenvironments." In bothhighschool and collegeresearch is a huge skill thatone must profession for allkinds of essay types.

    Claudia Silva

"thirst for deeperunderstanding" means thatstudents questions the worldaround him/her and is open toother ideas

"research questions and seeksevidence to defendarguments." students shouldlearn to research, instead ofaccepting what others say andtake it as true

"evaluates data...sources ofquality of content, validity, credibility" It is important thatstudents use more than onesource when researchingbecause not all sources arecridible

"accepts critique of orchallenges to assertions...acknowledging the accuracy ofthe critique or challenge." Ibelieve that it is important thatwe as students understandthat others opinion are alsoaccurate and have validity.
