Introdução

• No âmbito da disciplina de Biologia e do projeto Conecting Classrooms, vamos apresentar a perspetiva médica sobre clonagem humana em Portugal.

A clonagem

• A clonagem é um método científico artificial de reprodução de indivíduos ou populações através da multiplicação assexuada, isto é, utilização de células somáticas (células que formam órgãos, pele e osso) em vez de utilizar o óvulo e o espermatozóide.

O que defendem os médicos ?

A clonagem terapêutica é um procedimento de produção de órgãos e tecidos a partir de células totipotentes, e, como tal, os médicos defendem-na, uma vez que pode salvar muitas vidas.

Quais os argumentos a favor ?

• A clonagem terapêutica tem a vantagem de o paciente não rejeitar o órgão.

• A partir de células embrionárias podem ser cultivados os mais diferentes tipos de células.

Quais os argumentos a favor ?

• A clonagem terapêutica prevê a doação de óvulos para a produção de embriões. "Submeter a mulher a técnicas invasivas para a obtenção de vários óvulos por ciclo não é um procedimento ético”.

A afirmação acima é aceitável mas se:Um indivíduo necessita do transplante de um órgão e não existe dador compatível? O que fazer? Dizer não à vida ou aceitar passar pelas técnicas invasivas?

Benefícios

• A leucemia: espera-se que a clonagem possa trazer benefícios para o tratamento desta doença;

• Problemas no fígado e nos rins: poderá ser possível clonar fígados humanos para transplante dos mesmos;

• Entre Outros…

Conclusão

• Com este trabalho concluímos que a clonagem terapêutica poderia curar várias doenças e que por isso seria uma mais valia para a saúde pública.

Introduction

• Within the discipline of Biology and Connecting Classrooms project,we will present the medical perspective on human cloning in Portugal.

The Cloning

• Cloning is a scientific method of artificial reproduction of individuals or populations through asexual multiplication, it is, use of somatic cells (cells that form organs, skin and bone) instead of using the egg and sperm.

The doctors who advocate?

Therapeutic cloning is a procedure for production of organs and tissues from totipotentcells, and as such, physicians defend it, since it can save many lives.

What are the arguments?

Therapeutic cloning has the advantage that the patient does not reject the organ.

From that embryonic cells can be grown the most different types of cells.

What are the arguments?

• Therapeutic cloning involves a donation of eggs to produce embryos. "Subjecting the woman invasive techniques to obtain multiple eggs per cycle is not an ethical procedure.

Assertion above is acceptable but, for example, if a woman has a child who needs a liver transplant and is a donor, but doctors are not sure which is 100% compatible and there is the risk of rejection by the recipient will (son).Another case is a lady needs a bone marrow transplant and there is no donor. The only options for these two cases are therapeutic cloning. Now I ask, will these women will say no to your own life or the life of your child, or will accept to go through invasive techniques?

Conclusion

• With this work we concluded that therapeutic cloning could cure many diseases and so it would be an asset to public health and to advance in medicine.
