DYNAMIC ASSOCIATIONS BETWEEN GDP AND CRUDE OIL PRICES IN BRAZIL:
CYCLES, REGIME SWITCHES AND NONLINEAR CAUSALITY
Authors: Erick Meira de Oliveira*1 Fernando Luiz Cyrino Oliveira*2
ABSTRACT This paper puts forward an empirical investigation on the linear and nonlinear associations between GDP and crude oil prices under a regime-switching framework, a novelty in the literature, using the Brazilian aggregate as case study. We provide evidence on the existence of two different regimes in the Brazilian GDP since 1947: the first, very oil-dependent and marked by high fluctuations in the economy, is majorly presented until late-1990’s; and the second, concerning the greater part of the first two decades of the 21st century, is characterized by periods of greater stability and less oil dependency. Findings and economic implications are further discussed.

Silvio Hamacher*7 ABSTRACT Introduction: The evaluation of the execution of clinical pathways (CP) has several challenges including professional time constraints, lack of qualified resources, administrative burdens and absence of tools for evaluating and reporting. The aim of this work was to evaluate the execution of a sepsis CP from an adult emergency department of a Brazilian hospital through process mining techniques. In addition, we verified the research outcomes’ utility with the hospital staff. Methods: We applied process mining techniques using 2 years of sepsis hospitalizations extracted from the hospital information system. The hospital staff validated the accuracy and utility of the results. Results: We identified the real sepsis treatment process that the hospital executes. The hospital staff performed the sepsis treatment process close to the one specified in their sepsis’ CP (trace fitness of 0.85), indicating a very good adherence. We found 43 different types of deviations in the execution of the CP, constituting 5,184 deviations (instances). The bottlenecks in the process were: patients waiting in the reception for the triage (mean of 18 minutes) and the prescription of the treatment by physicians (mean of 5 minutes). The time to giving antibiotics reduced in average 3.5 minutes (p < 0.001) when physicians prescribed the treatment before registering the medical evaluation, comparing to cases that did not perform this deviation. The hospital staff considered all validated results correct with the exception of one deviation that should not have happened (blood culture was requested by nurse technician). All professionals considered it important to have access to the indicators presented in this research as they can help the hospital staff to identify problems in the execution of the CP. Conclusion: We consider the results of this work very promising since process mining techniques can provide valuable information for the hospital to manage and improve its sepsis CP. COLLABORATION IN THE DISASTER RESPONSE - A FRAMEWORK AND AN
APPLICATION
Authors: Tharcisio Cotta Fontainha*1 Adriana Leiras*
Luiz Felipe Scavarda* ABSTRACT The impact of disasters worldwide is substantial both to human life and financial terms, and the stakeholder collaboration is posed as essential to improve the relief of the beneficiaries. The state-of-art in this subject is marked by a plurality of concurrent models, lack of common nomenclatures and understanding of the role of one stakeholder by others. Therefore, this paper offers a framework to guide stakeholders´ collaboration in disaster response which embraces four pillars: stakeholders’ identification, stakeholders’ wants and needs, disaster response processes, and collaboration strategies. The combination of these pillars in an integrated framework brings additional value to practitioners and academics involved in disaster response, ensuring that the main stakeholders required are involved, their wants and needs are considered, the necessary processes are executed, and the collaboration among the stakeholders is stimulated. The research conveys a framework based on independent models developed through systematic literature reviews. Then, such framework is analyzed in a case study with data from a disaster response in 2011 and a simulation deployed in 2017 by the Brazilian military. The results reveal which stakeholders were involved, how and if their wants and needs were considered, which processes were executed and how the strategies of collaboration were considered, in both situations (the real disaster response in 2011 and in the simulation in 2017) as well as the evolution in this period and opportunities to improve the Brazilian military operations. Future research is suggested to extend the external validation to the framework in different disaster types, scenarios and considering other stakeholders’ perspectives.

EXPLORING MULTIPLE DISCRETENESS IN FREIGHT TRANSPORT. A MULTIPLE
DISCRETE 1 EXTREME VALUE MODEL APPLICATION FOR GRAIN
CONSOLIDATORS IN ARGENTINA
Authors: Rodrigo Javier Tapia*1 Gerard de Jong†
Ana Margarita Larranaga* Helena Beatriz Bettella Cybis*
ABSTRACT There are some examples where freight choices may be of a multiple discrete nature, especially the ones at more aggregated levels of planning. Nevertheless, this has not been investigated in the literature. In this work, we propose that the decision of port and mode of the grain consolidators in Argentina is of a discrete-continuous nature, where they can choose more than one alternative and how much of their production to send. The Multiple Discrete Extreme Value Model (MDCEV) framework was applied to a stated preference with a response variable that allowed this multiple discreteness. To our knowledge, this is the only application of the MDCEV in regional freight context. Free alongside ship price, freight cost, lead-time and travel time were included in the utility function and observed and random heterogeneity was captured with the interaction of consolidator’s characteristics and random coefficients. In addition, a weighted MNL has been used to compare the forecasting performance, willingness to pay measures and structure of the utility function.

FEATURE SELECTION METHOD FOR HIERARCHICAL CLASSIFICATION OF
SPARKLING WINE SAMPLES ACCORDING TO THE COUNTRY OF ORIGIN
Authors: Gabrielli Yamashita*1
Felipe Soares* Michel Anzanello*
Miriam Rocha* ABSTRACT Reliable discrimination of the geographical origin of sparkling wine is important to ensure quality and authenticity of the product. This paper proposes an approach aimed at identifying relevant features for classifying sparkling wine samples according to the country of origin. The method relies on the weights generated by the reliefF algorithm as a feature importance index. The features with the smallest index are iteratively eliminated, leading to the subset of features with the highest classification accuracy. Hierarchical classification was used to improve multiclass classification. Aiming at improving classification accuracy, different classification techniques were tested. A total of 111 sparkling wine samples from four countries (Argentina, Brazil, France and Spain) described by 12 chemical elements were assessed. The proposed method obtained an average classification accuracy of 99,1% while retaining only 3 of the original features.

WHAT IS LEAN LEADERSHIP? CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE GENERAL
LEADERSHIP LITERATURE
Authors: André Seidel*1 Tarcisio Abreu Saurin*
Giuliano Almeida Marodin† ABSTRACT Leadership has been cited by several studies as a key for the success of lean production. Nevertheless, there is a paucity of research addressing the underlying theory of lean leadership, which raises questions on whether the problems referred to in previous studies are true and possible to be addressed in a scientific way. This study addresses this gap by analysing how three core constructs of general leadership theories (i.e. leaders’ personal attributes, influence process, and context) offer insights into lean leadership. Thirty-two papers were selected from a systematic literature review of lean leadership. Then, a content analysis was used to identify excerpts of text that were related to one or more of the three data analysis constructs. Results indicate that lean leadership shares characteristics with several leadership theories and it can be interpreted as the instantiation of the said theories in a lean system. Considering this mixed theoretical foundation, we propose the notion of lean leadership as an emergent phenomenon, which arises from the interactions between the three aforementioned constructs. This is the first study that checks the concept of lean leadership against several general leadership theories. It also sets a basis for further research on this topic.
Keywords: human resource management, lean manufacturing, socio-technical systems, literature review, emergence.

STAKEHOLDER PRESSURE INFLUENCE IN ISO 50001 DIFFUSION OVER
DIFFERENT SIZE ENTERPRISES
Authors: Camila C. C. dos Reis*1
Lívia M. M. Benvenutti*2 Lucila M. S. Campos*3
Mauricio Uriona Maldonado*4 ABSTRACT The challenges that organizations face regarding energy performance and greenhouse gas emission are increasing considerably, becoming a relevant topic to stakeholders. This paper applies the Bass diffusion model (BM) to assess ISO 50001 certification diffusion using a system dynamic modeling. It extends some features from BM to include a market relation factor responsible for organization certificate diffusion due to market stakeholders’ pressures (institutional theory). The investigation is carried out accounting for organizations’ sizes to evaluate their response to different policies aiming at ISO 50001 dissemination. We used ISO 9001 historic match to calibrate the innovator, imitator and market relation factors and then used them in the energy management system model. In a reference mode scenario, the market relation force influence is more expressive, as we assumed it operates in all sizes of industries, while the other forces impact varies between segment sizes. In addition, five other scenarios were simulated. The first three considered different coercive pressures aimed at ISO 50001 certification, affecting industrial size differently. The last two scenarios combined all previous polices, but with a variable and a fixed potential market, respectively. The financial assistance and tax incentives provided the most significant impact on the overall number of certified industries by 2040, with 97% increase from reference mode. When all policies are combined, this number rises to 163% if assuming an increased potential market or 64% in a scenario with a fixed market. Compared with other sizes, large companies provided the lowest percentage increase by 2040, however, they are the most prominent segment to obtain the standard certification without further policies, which justifies this outcome. This study offers useful lessons on energy management system adoption dynamics, and it could be used as a starting point to investigation related to industries size, management standards and its isomorphism.

ASSOCIATIVE MAPPING FOR SALES FORECAST OF PRODUCTS:
A NEW SYSTEMIC APPROACH
Authors: Patrícia de Andrade Paines*1
Osmar Possamai*2 ABSTRACT Purpose – The objective of this work is the construction of a map of value-free associations from the investigation of the main factors and their value dimensions in the perception of the concept of performance in product sales. Design/methodology/approach – The study consists of a systematic bibliographic review of the relations of three factors and their associations among seventeen dimensions of value from the perceptive of consumer behavior, the extrinsic attributes of the product and characteristics of the market. To verify the free associations, the authors used the content analysis proposed by Ravelli et al. (2009), which served as a basis for evaluation and discussion of the factors of performance product sales. Findings – The authors identified a total of 3 factors and 17 dimensions of value related to the sales performance of products, being they properly presented and discussed. In addition, major interrelationships that moderate these factors in the decision-making process. Research limitations/implications – This study does not cover complete coverage of all existing and peer-reviewed articles in the field of simultaneous forecasting of new and existing products. Nevertheless, the review process obtained a reasonable opinion and covered a proportion of studies and research available. Originality/value – This study is the first that highlights the relationship of factors and associations of value dimensions related to performance in product sales using analysis of the forecasting process for different product types. Once these associations have been identified, it is possible to compile an associative map of the simultaneous interactions of factors and your value dimensions for sales forecasting. In addition, it can serve as portability in other fields of research, such as consumer typology, product categories, and market segments, among others.

EVALUATION MODEL OF STUDENT COMPETENCIES FOR DISCUSSION
FORUMS: AN APPLICATION IN A POST-GRADUATE COURSE IN PRODUCTION
ENGINEERING
Authors: Aline Cazarini Felício*†1 Jorge Muniz Jr*2
ABSTRACT This study aims to propose a competency assessment model for students in online discussion forums, using the Rubrics scoring tool and the Bloom’s Taxonomy to define evaluation feedback. First, the competencies to be evaluated in on-line discussion forums for theoretical courses in engineering courses were identified, then, the curricular guidelines of the engineering courses and the competencies identified in the literature by the research authors were considered. A questionnaire was developed with experts to evaluate the proposed model, comparing it with other models of skills assessment already used by them. The proposed model was evaluated by the specialists, with the average scale of more than 4 points for all items. All items were better evaluated when compared to models commonly used by the experts. The overall general index of instrument validity is 90%. It used as a pre-test of the model in two classes of a discipline of a postgraduate course in production engineering of a university of the interior of the state of São Paulo. Three lecturers evaluated the forums of the referred classes according to the proposed model to verify the reliability of the same. The reliability of each item of the proposed model was greater than 82%. The research contributes to the engineering education literature as it provides a new way of assessing competencies in discussion forums. A MULTI-OBJECTIVE MODEL TO EVALUATE MAINTENANCE POLICIES FOR
PROTECTION SYSTEMS SUBJECT TO IMPERFECT MAINTENANCE
Authors: Alexandre R. Alberti*1 Cristiano A. V. Cavalcante*
ABSTRACT The objective of this work is to present contributions to the evaluation of maintenance policies for protection systems. To meet this objective, a hybrid inspection and preventive replacement policy for a protection system is described by an innovative mathematical model that incorporates a set of aspects of maintenance quality. A single-component is assumed; the component has a three-stage failure model, with a defective state preceding the failed state. Applying the model it is possible to estimate the expected cost-rate and rate of unmet demands in the long run as a function of the decision variables. In addition, a multi-objective model is presented, considering these two indicators as objective function, allowing an adequate treatment of the multidimensionality of the problem. The Pareto frontier is explored searching compromise relations between the two criteria. An application is presented, illustrating how the model can be used to obtain important guidelines for the decision making in maintenance. It was observed that the probability of defect induction is a key factor for the performance of the maintenance policy. The model also allows us to evaluate circumstances that justify the investment in higher quality maintenance, as well as to establish guidelines on which aspects should be prioritized in such investment. Contrary to the guidelines obtained when considering only the cost criterion, the multi-objective analysis advised investment in the replacement quality and, in some cases, adoption of simple age-based replacement policies. Keywords: imperfect maintenance; protection system; multi-objective model.

A VALUE-BASED DECISION METHODOLOGY TO ASSIST PARTICIPATORY
WATER MANAGEMENT
Authors: Marcella Maia Urtiga*1 Danielle Costa Morais*2
ABSTRACT A model is put forward for participatory decision-making in watershed committees for prioritizing and choosing alternatives to address a specific watershed problem. Based on VFT, it assists representatives of watershed committees to structure their problem, to think about objectives and identify which objectives they hold in common. Having identified these objectives, the model assists the DMS into identifying alternatives. Besides identifying common objectives among the DMs, attributes to evaluate the alternatives are also identified. the model proposed assists the decision process by structuring objectives, identifying criteria. Each DM individually evaluates the alternatives using an individual value-function. Afterwards, the individual value-functions are aggregated into a group value-function so as to rank the alternatives based on the DMs’ preferences. With this model, the DMs are able to take part in the decision-making process from starting to understand the problem, identifying objectives, creating alternatives, until the process of choosing attributes and selecting alternatives. Thus, the model promotes the DMs’ engagement throughout the whole decision making process. ABSTRACT Organizations and industries must ensure safe operation of their facilities, employing rigorous risk management techniques for planning and executing their activities. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) represents the closest layer of protection to workers, and can considerably reduce the risk of exposure to hazards, being critical for safety in industrial environments. The hazards addressed by protective equipment include physical, acoustic, electrical, heat and chemicals. Despite the substantial efforts in increasing awareness about the benefits of PPE to strive towards zero accident philosophy, operators often neglect its use when not being supervised. However, organizations commonly have surveillance cameras installed which might provide useful visual information on correct usage of PPE. In this context, computer vision is an interdisciplinary field that seeks to automate tasks that the human visual system can do and includes domains of signal and image processing, pattern recognition and artificial intelligence. Moreover, object recognition is a prominent technology from computer vision for finding and identifying objects in an image or video sequence. Then, this work aims to create an automatic PPE detection from surveillance cameras and other video streams using computer vision and machine learning. Equipment such as helmets, safety glasses, earplugs and other garments are checked for whether they are being used by operators in a real-time monitoring, alerting supervisors to prevent accidents and ensure a safer environment. *Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE) †Universidade do Chile, Chile

ABSTRACT Responsible use of natural resources is an important social and political issue, and as such, it is an essential factor in business decision-making. In this scenario, accounting practices need to include valuation and analysis of external costs and environmental debts as part of the information made available to decision-makers. Therefore, this study focuses on proposing a method to measure and evidence the Environmental Debt (ED) of a productive system. For this purpose, Design Science Research was used to conduct the research. Its main result makes possible to propose the Measurement and Evidencing of Environmental Debt Method (MEED). The method was developed from a combination of resources identified in the literature, propositions of research groups, from consulting market methods and international organizations involved with the recognition of the price of natural resources. The results of applying MEED reveal the valuation and disclosure of external costs and environmental obligations from the internalization of environmental externalities related to the primary objective of accounting, namely, valuation of equity. The method was tested in the poultry sector, specifically the production of griller chickens, and evaluated by experts in multidisciplinary areas. Environmental externalities are present in the evaluated system, negatively affecting equity. Keywords: Environmental externalities. External costs. Environmental Debt. ABSTRACT Tools related to Advanced Manufacturing are developing rapidly and will transform the future of production systems. The production paradigm will be changed for the development, manufacturing and commercialization of new products from the use of these technologies. In this context, one of the technologies most carefully addressed in productive systems is Additive Manufacturing. This work identified the impacts of the use of the Additive Manufacturing by production systems. To that purpose, interviews were conducted with a group of experts on the subject in question. The analysis of the interviews was carried out from the perspective of three groups of interviewees: Manufacturers and Representatives of Additive Manufacturing (Brazil and USA), Users of the technology (Brazil, USA and Germany) and Representatives of national Governments (Brazil and USA). As a result, it is emphasized that the use of Additive Manufacturing is a path with no return. Its benefits start from the reduction of the time of crossing from the process of product development to manufacturing, in addition to the viability of new business models. Barriers such as speed of print and final quality (appearance) should be solved soon, due to the advancement of technology, giving organizations greater competitiveness in a significant set of competitive criteria. DECISION SUPPORT IN SPORTS SCIENCE: THE COMPOSITION OF
PROBABILISTIC PREFERENCES TO ATHLETES’ EVALUATION

Pauli Adriano de Almada Garcia* ABSTRACT The football transfer market involves millions of dollars. According to FIFA, Brazil was the country that most moved players at the end of 2016. In a period of one year, the country's trade balance indicated the export of 806 players and the importation of 678 athletes, involving approximately US$ 600 million dollars. However, the financial reality of most South American football clubs is different from that of the most valued Leagues in Europe. The Brazilian championship, for example, occupies the tenth position in market value, when compared to the tournaments of the European Leagues. Young Brazilian players who excel in pre-professional tournaments are early traded overseas, given the difficulty of clubs to cover the offerings of Leagues with greater investment capacity. In this way, Brazilian clubs need to recompose their rosters for the new seasons with limited resources. The recruitment of new athletes with limited resources became a globalized problem in sports. In the US Major League Baseball (MLB), the experience of the Oakland Athletics’ manager in the last decade turned his ‘Moneyball’ model as synonym of quantitative analysis in the transfer market of baseball players. This research adapted the ‘Moneyball’ model to the framework of a Multiple Criteria Decision Aid (MCDA). The Moneyball model is typically a MCDA problem and pruned to a probabilistic approach. Data collection depends on observers, who add imprecision to samples. In addition, a soccer match has a random component. The novelty here refers to the joint use of four algorithms explored by the Composition of Probabilistic Preferences (CPP): ranking, classification, dynamic evaluation and regularity analysis of alternatives. The new model analyzed a recent transfer of a soccer player to Europe. The results indicated twelve opportunities for better investment. A sensitivity analysis showed the robustness of results in this application. Keywords: Multicriteria Decision; CPP; Moneyball; Football.

INNOVATION-MULTICRITERIA MODEL FOR CHOOSING ACTIONS TO FACE
BARRIERS FOR PATENTING IN UNIVERSITIES: PROPOSAL AND CASE
Authors: Fernanda de Carvalho Pereira*1
Helder Gomes Costa* Valdecy Pereira*
ABSTRACT Motivation/Problem – The reduced number of universities patents have motivated the building of a model to support the university headers during the process of decision making to choose actions that stimulate the patenting in Universities aiming the innovation. In this respect, it arises the general issue of the paper: How to model the choice process in order to mitigate the factors that inhibit patenting in Universities? Methodology – The paper is methodologically based on the following steps: bibliographic survey on inhibitor factors and incentive actions to patenting in Universities on Scopus and ISI/Web of Science database, proposal of models and research instrument and modeling applications and analysis of the results in the Brazilian case using the multicriteria method ELECTRE I (Elimination Et Choix Traduisant la Realité) to choose the actions. Results – According to the results of the modeling application for the Brazilian case assessed, the respondents representing the perceptions of the University, Company and Government chose, simultaneously, the actions: A1 – To promote the Interaction University-Company, A3 – To define an Intellectual Property Policy in Universities, A4 – To invest in R&D, A11 – To give assistance and support during the whole patenting process and A15 – To provide disciplines and lectures about protection to Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship. Practical Contributions - The model was implemented for the Brazilian case, but it is expected that this model can be broadly used in different Universities, in order to consider the Suppliers perception about the SIPOC (Suppliers, Inputs, Process, Outputs, Customers) inputs for the process of patent solicitation deposits by the University, and thus assisting in the decision making process. Originality – The research originality is in proposing a model linked Innovation and Multicriteria to choose stimulus actions which influence the inhibiting factors identified along the process of patent solicitation deposit by the University, differentiating itself from the others by the broader scope of the Literature Review and systematization of the model, through the integration of the SIPOC based on the Porter Diamond and Triple Helix approaches with the multicriteria method. THE CHOICE OF POLICING STRATEGY AS A FUNCTION OF CRIMINAL
DEMAND: A PROBABILISTIC MODEL OF TOPICS
Authors: Marcio Pereira Basilio*1
Gabrielle Souza Brum* Valdecy Perreira*
ABSTRACT Purpose: The aim of this study was to develop a methodology for knowledge discovery in emergency response service databases based on police occurrence reports, generating information to help law enforcement agencies plan actions to investigate and combat criminal activities. Methodology: The model developed employs a methodology for knowledge discovery involving text mining techniques and uses Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) with Collapsed Gibbs Sampling to obtain topics related to crime. Findings: The method used enabled identification of the most common crimes that occurred in the period from 1 January to 31 December of 2016. An analysis of the topics identified reaffirmed that crimes do not occur in a linear manner in a given locality. In this study, 40% of the crimes identified in Integrated Public Safety Area 5, or AISP-5, (the historic centre of the city of RJ) had no correlation with AISP-19 (Copacabana - RJ), and 33% of the crimes in AISP-19 were not identified in AISP-5. Research Limitations: The collected data represent the social dynamics of neighbourhoods in the central and southern zones of the city of Rio de Janeiro during the specific period from January 2013 to December 2016. This limitation implies that the results cannot be generalised to areas with different characteristics. Practical Implications: The developed methodology contributes in a complementary manner to the identification of criminal practices and their characteristics based on police occurrence reports stored in emergency response databases. The generated knowledge enables law enforcement experts to assess, reformulate and construct differentiated strategies for combating crimes in a given locality. Social Implications: It is possible to infer that by choosing appropriate strategies to combat local crime, the proposed model will increase the population’s sense of safety through an effective reduction in crime. Originality/value: The originality of the study lies in the integration of text mining techniques and LDA to detect crimes in a given locality based on criminal occurrence reports stored in emergency response service databases. Keywords: Topic model; Text mining; LDA; Multicriteria, Crime; Security Public, Police.

A NOVEL MULTI-OBJECTIVE FRAMEWORK FOR ENSEMBLE GENERATION IN
SUPERVISED LEARNING TASKS
Authors: Victor Henrique Alves Ribeiro*1
Gilberto Reynoso-Meza*2 ABSTRACT Machine learning algorithms have found to be useful for the solution of complex engineering problems. However, due to problem's characteristics, such as class imbalance, classical methods may not present a desirable performance. The authors believe that the application of multi-objective optimization design can improve the results of machine learning algorithms on such scenarios. Thus, this paper proposes a novel methodology for the creation of ensembles of classifiers. To do so, a multi-objective optimization design approach composed of two steps is used. The first step focus on generating a set of diverse classifiers, while the second step focus on the selection of such classifiers as ensemble members. The proposed method is applied on three different experiments. The first one a simple example application to illustrate the proposed multi-objective framework for ensemble generation. The second case study is the Fisher's iris data set, where an ensemble of logistic regressors is used. In the last experiment, an ensemble of decision trees is built in order to solve a real-world competition data set, based on water quality anomaly detection. Results show that the ensembles created with the proposed technique outperform the best single classifiers. Keywords: Machine learning, ensemble methods, multi-objective optimization.

Simone Diniz Junqueira Barbosa*4 ABSTRACT Appointment scheduling systems traditionally book patients at fixed intervals, without taking into account several complexity factors of the health system. Those schedules can leave servers idle at certain times and can produce long queues of patients at others. In this context, this paper aims to propose a new scheduling policy to a bariatric surgery clinic, considering the following factors: (i) stochastic service times, (ii) patient unpunctuality, (iii) delays and interruptions of the provider, and (iv) patients no-shows. This article analyzes several scenarios with and without overbooking and reports tests of the main appointment policies through a Discrete Event Simulation model. The simulation results using the proposed policy showed an increase of 30% in the number of consultations, maintaining the level of service provided. Autores: Carla C. D. Fernandes*1
Mariá C. V. Nascimento* RESUMO This paper deals with the Lot Sizing Problem (LSP) in Parallel Machines with multiple items are considered and different machines that produce the same items and that have capacity restrictions, at the beginning of the production of each item the time and cost of setup of the used machine is incurred. In addition, it is considered the possibility of taking advantage of setup at the end of each period: the setup carry-over, for cost reduction and, implicitly, for the definition of a production planning that reduces possible environmental impacts caused by the preparation of machines. Despite several studies in the literature for LSP in parallel machines, few of them introduce the efficient solution methods to solve it considering the setup carry-over. In this sense, to solve this problem efficiently, in this paper, it is proposed its study from the point of view of modeling and efficient solution method. First, three mixed integer programming models were adapted for the LSP in Parallel Machines. After experiments, two models were defined that were used for the proposed solution method based on modeling (math-heuristics). Experiments, in which the solutions obtained by the CPLEX solver and the math-heuristic are compared, demonstrated the efficiency of the proposed method. Palavras-chave: Lot-sizing Problem. ANÁLISE DE DECISÃO PARA A AVALIAÇÃO DAS ALTERNATIVAS DE
RECOLHIMENTO DO PALHIÇO DE CANA-DE-AÇÚCAR
Autores: Paula Horta Lemos* Jose Geraldo Vidal Vieira*

HUMAN FACTORS INVOLVED IN THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF LONG
DISTANCE BUS DRIVERS
Authors: Giuliana de Moura Pereira*1
Fernando Gonçalves do Amaral*2 ABSTRACT Objectives: To analyze and evaluate the human factors that can influence work ability and the occurrence of common mental disorders in intermunicipal bus drivers. Methods: Sample consisting of 225 intermunicipal bus drivers from a private company. The profile of the individuals was evaluated by a questionnaire including sociodemographic factors, work conditions and personal habits. The work ability and the occurrence of common mental disorders were identified respectively by the Work Ability Index (WAI) questionnaire and ‘Self Reporting Questionnaire-20’ to evaluate the factors that could influence the work ability and the occurrence of common mental disorders in the drivers. Results: The functional work ability of most intermunicipal bus drivers (65.2%) was identified as excellent, but part of the sample analyzed shows work abilities that could be improved. Only 1% of the participants were identified as possible bearers of common mental disorders. Absenteism was seen as a factor that could influence the WAI, while the consumption of alcoholic beverages and the type of line worked were the factors identified as able to influence the occurrence of common mental disorders in these professionals. Conclusions: Considering the importance of this professional category in large countries, where passengers are transported by road, the findings of this study indicate that improvements are needed, by mitigating the factors that influence the work load and the occurrence of common mental disorders such as: absenteism, alcohol consumption and type of route related to the length of time they drive the vehicle. RESUMO The identification of the characteristics of the built environment that contribute to the reduction of injuries due to traffic accidents is a fundamental strategy for the construction of safer, healthier and sustainable cities. In this context, the accurate analysis of the factors associated with the severity of the accidents contributes providing effective countermeasures for mitigating traffic accidents. This paper presents three objectives: (i) to identify the set of characteristics of the built environment that influence the severity of accidents in school surroundings; (ii) to analyze the contribution of including unobserved heterogeneity in the analysis of the severity of accidents in school surroundings; (iii) to compare the results of ordered and unordered modeling of the severity of accidents. The severity was analyzed by the inclusion of the characteristics of the built environment, socioeconomics, school institutions and accidents recorded (from 2012 to 2014) near 905 schools in Porto Alegre. Ordered and unordered discrete choice models, with fixed and random parameters, were estimated, allowing the comparison between the approaches, as the impact of the inclusion of unobserved heterogeneity. The results obtained did not show the superiority of one methodological approach over the other, although the inclusion of unobserved heterogeneity has shown to contribute with insights regarding the interpretation of the variables. The set of estimates indicates that the severity of traffic injuries in the school environment is influenced by the school, accident, and socioeconomic characteristics and the urban structure, highlighting the negative influence of the quantity of four-way intersections.

A INFLUÊNCIA DOS MECANISMOS DE CONTRATAÇÃO BRASILEIROS NA
DIFUSÃO DA GERAÇÃO EÓLICA
Autores: Matheus Eduardo Leusin*1 Mauricio Uriona Maldonado*2

EXTENDED WARRANTY OF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT SUBJECT TO IMPERFECT REPAIRS: AN APPROACH BASED ON GENERALIZED RENEWAL PROCESS
AND STACKELBERG GAME
Authors: João Mateus Santana*1 Rafael Vêlozo*

ABSTRACT Due to its advanced technology, maintenance services of healthcare equipment have been commonly executed by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), which can be characterized as a monopolist. In this context, hospitals require a high availability of their equipment at a reasonable servicing cost, whereas OEM aims to maximize its profit by selling extended warranty (EW) services for multiple consumers. The issue of drawing a maintenance contract between OEM and hospitals has already been treated by adopting a Stackelberg’s game. However, the “as good as new” and “as bad as old” assumptions are usually considered, which are rather difficult to observe in practice, especially for healthcare institutions and their technology-intensive equipment. Thus, we here adopted generalized renewal processes (GRP) for modelling imperfect repairs, and we develop a discrete event simulation based method for finding the best strategies of each player: OEM sets the prices for EW and on-demand maintenance that optimize its profit, while hospitals choose which option they should hire. We also present an application example with actual data gathered from an angiograph that is an equipment used for blood vessels mapping and diagnosing of heart diseases. ABSTRACT Economic decisions are often self-conflict situations in which individuals are trying to select the choice that brings the greatest reward with lower risk. This study aims to analyze the decision-maker responses to uncertainty situations using neuroscience techniques and tools to identify aspects related to rewards and punishment behavior. Electroencephalography and eye-tracker equipment were used to collect psychophysiological data. A monetary game was developed to display experimental stimulus. Pupillary results indicate punishment stimulus caused more pupil dilation than reward stimulus. In an event-related potential results occurred 300 ms after event display (P300) indicates highest amplitude in punishing stimulus. These results together suggest high punishment magnitude cause negative emotional charge or frustration.

Artur Alves Pessoa* ABSTRACT Hubs are special facilities widely found in distribution systems acting mainly as transshipment and switching points, being used to concentrate and consolidate ows. Every hub is subjected to a disruption of its functionality, called interdiction, that can be caused by many reasons such as natural disasters or even intentional attacks. Interdictions result in an efficiency loss to the system, substantially increasing the total distribution cost. A way to mitigate the impact caused by interdictions is fortifying some hubs, avoiding them to be interdicted. This context naturally leads to the multiple allocation r-hub interdiction median problem with fortification, which consists of identifying q hubs to be fortified in a multiple allocation hub-and-spoke supply network, knowing that r hubs will be interdicted. We assume that the set of hubs chosen to be interdicted is the one that causes the highest increase in the total distribution cost. For this bilevel problem, we propose an integer linear programming formulation with an exponential number of constraints that is solved through a branch-and-cut algorithm. Our results show that our method requires less computational time than the exact algorithm found in the literature, being able to optimally solve several large instances. STRATEGIC DECISION MAKING IN THE 3D PRINTING INDUSTRY – A ROBUST
DECISION MAKING (RDM) ANALYSIS (DRAFT)
Authors: Pedro Nascimento de Lima*1

ABSTRACT The Additive Manufacturing (AM) industry has seen two-digits growth in the past 27 years and is expected to streamline supply chains, reduce product development time and to enable companies to reshape business models. The future, however, may still hold surprises to the AM industry. While some experts forecast that this industry might worth 21 billion dollars by 2020, others forecasts point to an economic impact of 550 billion by 2025. Uncertainty in the AM industry manifests not only on diverging industry forecasts, but also on volatility in stock prices, and weak financial results obtained by the leading players. Expiring patents, new product diffusion dynamics and individual strategies adopted by different players are key factors that work together dynamically to shape the future of this unfolding market. Our study employs the Robust Decision Making (RDM) approach to investigate the robustness of strategies played by industrial-grade AM Systems Manufacturers. Our analysis extends Sterman et al. (2007) competitive dynamics model allowing players to compete for market share not only with Aggressive or Conservative pricing strategies but also investing in product performance, which is influenced by R&D investments. Our analysis evaluates strategic decisions concerning pricing and desired market share, following Sterman et al. (2007). Also, we test different R&D budgeting strategies and Closed vs. Open Source strategies. We then evaluate 54 resulting strategies against an ensemble of 200 cases, obtained through Latin Hypercube Sampling of 35 uncertain model parameters resulting in a database of 10800 simulations. The resulting database was analyzed using machine learning algorithms including Random Forests, the Boruta Algorithm, and PRIM. In our experiments, aggressive pricing strategies dominate their conservative counterparts. Also, our results do not lend support to Open Source R&D strategies, which is consistent with the current behavior of leading players. The candidate strategy employs an aggressive pricing approach, with a closed-source R&D strategy, and presents higher regret when the market size is high, and other players are also aggressive. Finally, we discuss managerial implications from our findings to the 3D printing industry, and theoretical contributions to the Strategic Decision-Making literature.
Autores: Simone Milach*1 Maria Gilda Pimentel Esteves*
*Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) [email protected]

SUPPLY PERFORMER: UMA FERRAMENTA DE AVALIAÇÃO BASEADA NO
MODELO SCOR
Autores: Keila Panza Baesso*1
DSSECURITY (A DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM TO CRIME MANAGEMENT)
Autores: Jean Gomes Turet*1
Ana Paula Cabral Seixas Costa*2 ABSTRACT The concern about national and international security has increased over the years. The huge number of crimes has brought a variety of serious problems in northeast Brazil and other countries around the world. Based on that, the major challenge faced by public security components is how best to tackle analyze a huge amount of crime data (Big Data) in order to identify the evolution of crime. Big Data is a problem due to the fact that organizations need to constantly analyze huge amounts of data and to store them and ig Data Analytics is analytical techniques that are applied to big data. However, analyzing these data has become increasingly complex due to the fact that robust tools and high processing power are required and great software. Thus, the DSSecurity (Decision Support Systems to the Crime Management) is a decision support system that provides to the public security the best way to analyze the crime data in real time way taking in account a big volume of data. This system offers a simple environment to make advanced analyses. It uses big data analytics tools as Hadoop Framework and its components (as HIVE, MapReduce and HDFS Distribute Storage) and several models to support various decision processes. These characteristics bring it different if compared with other available systems. This system will be applied in the Social Defense Secretary of the Pernambuco’s State in Brazil where there is a constant need for actions that aim to reduce the number of crimes in the locality. With this system, the social defense department will be able to identify areas with the highest numbers of crimes (and others decision processes), and the relationship between crime and locality. It uses visual features (such as graphics) to make the best possible decisions regarding actions that must be carried out to minimize crimes in localities affected by violence. The DSSecurity has four main parts, as follows: System Login, New Crime Data; Data Visualization and Data Analyses. A brief overview is shown of each part. First of all, it can be accessed and used as two end-users profiles: Administrator and Member profiles. After validated the member’s email, the web-based DSSecurity is available. The logged members also can update their own profile information, as well as change their personal email used to login in the system. In order to add new crime data, users can make this in manual way or to import from excel format (very common in the social defense secretary). These data are stored in a database (large database) from Hadoop HDFS distributed data (this framework allows to analyse a huge amount of data in seconds). From this, the system can execute the other parts, as data visualization and data analyse.

In data visualization, the public security components can access and visualize all crime data in seconds. This happens basically in two forms: the first is to visualize all data and the second is visualize specify data from several filters (as for example, names, addresses, AIS). The third part is the data analyses. In this moment, the users can analyze the huge amount of data based in several models. This part is flexible, in other words, the models can be implemented in order to ensure the correct analyze. In the actual version this part identify which neighborhood has the highest number of occurrences of crime versus common crime type of this place taking in account a huge amount of crime data. The results can be accessed by the Central Dashboards, where the public security components will have the possibility to visualize the results in graphics, tables, reports, and other possibilities. Besides that, the central dashboard real time graphics to improve the decision power. The DSSecurity is in the 1.2 version. In this version the Central Dashboard is being developing and other models will be implement in the system according the social defense secretary of the Pernambuco’s State needs. Regarding the quantitative aspects, the violence has direct impacts on the economy of states and municipalities, such as the decrease of the capacity of investment and the distance of the investor. In Brazil in the first half of 2017 recorded 28,000 homicides, representing about 155 deaths per day. When compared to the first half of 2016, there was an increase of 6.79% (1,700 homicides more than in 2016). Among the states belonging to the federation, Pernambuco was responsible for half of the homicide rate in the country, accounting for about 913 homicides of the 1700 that happened in Brazil. In this context, according to the Social Defense Department of Pernambuco, in the first half of 2017 there were approximately 3323 Intentional Lethal Violent Crimes (CVLI) in the state. Comparing with the same period of 2016, there is a 37.8% increase in the number of homicides (913 more). Cities such as Paulista (Metropolitan Region of Recife) and Vitória de Santo Antão (Zona da Mata) have increased almost 90% between 2016-2017. In this context, the state of Pernambuco is at the top of the states with the highest number of homicides in the first half of 2017 in Brazil. Based on that, the DSSecurity will be able to provide new perspectives to improve the security in the Pernambuco’s State with great data analyze performance. With this, the state will have the possibility to identify correct decisions in real time way taking in accoount the huge amount of crime data that are captured every time.
