The Association of Mechanical Engineering and Metalworking Industries ofLatvia is a voluntary, public, non-profit organization founded in 1994 as aninformative and consultative centre for the specified industrial sector.

The goals of Association’s activities are to promote the development of theMechanical Engineering and Metalworking sector in general, promotemutual cooperation and professional growth of the specialists in the sector.

Members of the association account for more than 75% of the total outputproduced by Mechanical Engineering and Metalworking sector in Latvia.

The Association has membership in the Latvian Entrepreneurs confederationwhere its members are represented on the board of directors. The Association operates in close cooperation with the correspondingorganizations in Europe and other countries. In 2003 we became a memberin ORGALIME – European Federation of National Industrial Associationsrepresenting European mechanical, electrical, electronic and metalworkingindustries. The Association has established successful cooperation with theMinistry of Economics of the Republic of Latvia, Latvian Investment andDevelopment Agency, Latvian Chamber of Trade and Industry, LatvianFederation of Trade Unions, and another Latvian industry associations likeElectromechanical and Electronics’ Engineering Association, WoodworkingIndustries, Food Processing Industries, Textile Industries as well as with theProfessional Education Centres of Latvia, Riga Technical University, RigaTechnical College, among others.

The Association has developed and is continuously maintaining a technical,informative database by analysing latest production and developmentprocesses in the mechanical engineering and metalworking sector of Latvia.The Association, facilitates matchmaking among Latvian sector companieswith potential co-operation partners, and liaise with state and publicinstitutions.
