Exceptuando a regiao do Noroeste, a volta da cidade de Braga, que apresenta os v a lores mais altos, e algumas zonas litorais, sobretudo na vinhan9a as cidades de Lisboa e Porto, onde esses valores descem consideravelmente, pode dizer-se que a natalidade anda quase sempre na ordem inversa da densidade da populaao (N. 0 12). A cren9a religiosa mais viva na gente do Norte, a cidade «mangeuse d'ennts», e a dissolu9ao dos costumes mais acentuada no Sul, como se vera (N. 0 16), mortali sao ctos assinala-se que na interpreta9ao particularmente da carta em nao duas podem regi6es deixar de de caracteristicas considerar-se.
