Work Conditions in

Sugarcane The leaders

received the documents

from the President of Brazil

Created in 2009 by

the Brazilian Federal

Government the initiative

involves companies and

workers from the sugar-

energy sector and is

designed to guarantee

improved quality of life

and disseminate good

labor practices that extend

beyond legal requirements

The bioenergy sector

currently employs over 1



million people

In 2009 aligned

with the Odebrecht

Organization culture

the nine ETH units

voluntarily joined the

National Commitment

with includes assessments

related to Transparency

Workplace Health and

Safety Transportation

Food Labor Union

Organization and

the Development of

Communities among

others

After joining the

initiative the company

began the verification

process last October

which involved the

Agriculture People and

Organization (PampO)

and Safety Health and

Environment (SHE)

teams from the five ETH

production centers and

the People Administration

area of the corporate

office in addition to the

contracted audit firm and

class labor unions from

included the presentation

of documentation visits

to the units work fronts

During the months of June and July

the unitrsquos People and Organization teams

are making every effort to ensure that

100 of the Members sign up for the

health plan guaranteeing peace of mine

Responsible for the Panama Bay City Sanitation

project Odebrecht completed the excavation

work and roof of the Interceptor Tunnel six

months ahead of schedule The TBM (Tunnel

Boring Machine) ndash also known as ldquoTatuzatildeordquo ndash

excavated the 8-km tunnel within a 19-month

period started on October 2010

Tatuzatildeorsquos arrival to the final point included the

presence of President of the Republic of Panama

Ricardo Martinelli the Minister of Health Franklyn

Vergara Managing Director of Odebrecht in

the country Andreacute Rabello and the Members

involved in the tunnel construction work

The construction of the Interceptor Tunnel

represents a milestone in Panamarsquos engineering

history for being the first in the country

completed with a TBM The construction has

recorded over 2 million man-hours worked and

provided more than 69000 hours of training

for Members Approximately 450 workers were

involved at the peak of the construction

The Interceptor Tunnel will connect to the

Coastal Interceptor to conduct the wastewater

generated in the Downtown area of the Panamarsquos

capital to the Pump Station from where it will

be sent in pressurized form to the Wastewater

Treatment Plant ndash currently being constructed by

Odebrecht

The work included in the Submarine

Development Program (PROSUB-EBN) Naval

Shipyard and Base complex involves the

construction of a 703-meter long and 15-meter

high tunnel that passes through a mountain and

connects the two sectors

The tunnel is already in the final phase of

construction On April 12 the last denotation

was completed opening the passageway

between the North and South areas

The ceremony included the presence of

representatives from the Brazilian Navy the

Itaguaiacute Construccedilotildees Navais (ICN) Consortium

the French company DCNS and Odebrecht

Infraestrutura responsible for the civil

construction work On the occasion Odebrecht

also completed the upper section of the tunnel

which measures seven meters high

In order to ensure that the tunnel reaches the

height planned in the design it was necessary to

lower it eight meters by excavating the current

floor Some 200 meters were lowered through

detonations and excavations

Seacutergio Martins the manager responsible for

the construction work said he is certain that the

main challenge lies beyond the construction

site Surrounded by the community of Ilha da

Madeira in Itaguaiacute Rio de Janeiro the tunnel

is located slightly over 100 meters from some

of the houses ldquoWe worked at night had some

underground and outdoor detonations and

blocked trafficrdquo said Martins ldquoThese types

of actions generated complaintsrdquo he said

According to him good communication and

precautions with the safety of local residents

facilitated the relationship ldquoLuckily we have

mitigated these factors in a very positive way

receiving the support of the projectrsquos Social

It is estimated that the construction work for

the tunnel will be completely finished by the end

of September of this year

Representatives from the Brazilian Navy Itaguaiacute Construccedilotildees Navais Consortium DCNS and Odebrecht participated in the event that opened the tunnel passageway between the North and South areas of the project


In May of this year the EBN-PROSUB project

ndash developed by Odebrecht Infraestrutura in

Rio de Janeiro ndash finished installing the Supplier

Portal an Oracle system module dedicated to

these partners

The Supplier Portal is designed to promote

transparency and equal competition when

purchasing products The tool gives suppliers

access to purchase orders agreements and

price quotes and can send bids (auctions)

confirm purchase orders and manage

negotiations

In order to better understand its different

features suppliers participated in a training

session at the construction site in Itaguaiacute

coordinated by Emerson Araujo Silva from the

Odebrecht IT area ldquoWe had a large number of

partners interested in learning the new processrdquo

explained Silva ldquoThe idea is to strengthen the

relationship with suppliers through the systemrdquo

he said

the Oracle system The country

is the fourth in which the

Organization operates abroad

to adopt the administrative-

financial tool

The meeting that marked the

start of the project included the

presence of Luis Weyll Managing

Industrial and an additional 50

During the meeting the name of

the project was defined Fusioacuten

(ldquofusionrdquo in Spanish) which

by the country with the

On May 30 the Corinthians

Arena celebrated its first year

of intense work undertaken

by Odebrecht Infraestrutura

to erect the stadium that will

host the opening ceremony

and opening game of the 2014

World Cup The project has

completed approximately 40

of the construction work and

has 1820 Members

To celebrate the date the

company gathered all workers

divided into three different

groups and times based

on the start of the morning

GROUP MARRIAGE AT THE FUTURE STADIUM

On June 17 Odebrecht Infraestrutura held a group marriage that

gathered workers from the Corinthians Stadium to make the union of 62

couples official

Approximately 750 people participated in the civil ceremony which

included the presence of Andreacutes Sanches CBF National Team Director

and Gilmar Tadeu Special Joint Secretary to the 2014 World Cup Antonio

Gavioli Contract Director Frederico Barbosa Operational Manager and

Ricardo Corregio Commercial Manager served as the witnesses for the

couples

The religious Catholic and evangelical ceremonies were held

traditionally with the brides entering on a red carpet and the exchange of

rings A reception with food and drink ended the celebrations

The group marriage was organized after the company identified a high number of workers living under non-official stable unions


On May 26 Braskem participated in the

inauguration of the Brazilian Football Cafe

Skylounge VIP boxes at the Amsterdam ArenA

in Holland and made the symbolic delivery of

the stadiumrsquos first sugar seat (ldquogreenrdquo seat) made

from plastic originating from sugarcane ethanol a

100 renewable raw material

The petrochemical company established a

partnership with the Amsterdam ArenA at the

end of last year for the supply of ldquogreenrdquo plastic for

the manufacturing of the seats The company will

initially supply resin for 2000 seats By the end of

the next two years all of the 54000 places in the

Dutch stadium will be ldquogreenrdquo polyethylene

The Brazilian Football Cafe is a thematic bar

inspired by the international view of Brazil as

a nation that identifies with soccer displaying

its culture gastronomy music and an exclusive

set of memories from Brazilian soccer history

The inauguration of the space included the

The Continued Professional Qualification

Program - Creer (Believe) developed by

Odebrecht Ameacuterica Latina e Angola in

Colombia trained over 8600 people in 15

months

Started in March of last year the program

was implemented at the Rota do Sol Road

Project - Sector 2 through a strategic alliance

with the Construtor Rota do Sol Consortium

(Consol) National Learning Service (SENA) and

the governments from the cities located nearby

the construction work Creer is designed to

meet the projectrsquos labor needs generate job

Until June of this year 7488 people were

qualified under the Basic Module and 1163

completed the Technical Module with 1191

women trained during the first and 89 during
