Fábulas.
Relação Interdisciplinar: Não
Público Alvo: Alunos do Ensino Médio
Localização: Colégio Estadual Almirante Tamandaré, situado a Rua Rocha Pombo,
número 85, Cruzeiro do Oeste.

(DCE LEM, pg. 38)
postura diante do mundo.

fábula comporta duas partes: a narrativa e a moralidade. A primeira trabalha as
Assim, a evolução

representa a força, a raposa, astuto, formiga, trabalhos, etc.

READING: The ant and the grasshopper
It was a lovely summer day. The grasshopper was sitting in the sun, playing
his violin. An ant walked by, grunting as he carried an enormous piece of corn on his
back. "That corn looks really heavy" said the grasshopper. "Come and play with me
instead." The ant was tired and hot. He pointed at a pile of corn. "I can't, this will be
my food during winter, "he said” There will be less food then, so I must prepare now."
The grasshopper laughed. "Why worry about winter”? He said "it’s summer now and
there's plenty of food." Soon the weather became very cold and the ground was
covered with thick snow and ice. The grasshopper tried to dig, but he couldn't find
any food. "Help me, I'm hungry, "said the grasshopper to the ant”. Please, can I
share your food?" The ant had lots of food and was kind and generous. "I will help
you this time, "said the ant, and he gave the grasshopper some corn” But next year I
will not help you. You mustn't be lazy and you must prepare for winter!"

Text 1: The Fox and the Stork
A cunning fox once invited a stork to come for dinner. When the stork came
she was offered a delicious soup into a wide shallow bowl. The stork could not eat
anything but the fox could easily lap up the whole soup. Before leaving the stork did
not forget to thank the fox for the nice dinner and invited him for a lunch with her in
the following day.
The fox reached for the lunch and was welcomed by the stork warmly. The
stork then offered him meat balls in a jar; the neck of that jar was so narrow and deep
that the fox could only smell the food. He said “I can’t eat from this pot, can’t you see
that?”
-“Please enjoy the food the way I enjoyed at your place yesterday”, the stork
replied softly.
Moral: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Text 2: The Hare and the Tortoise
The hare was once boasting of his speed before the other animals. “I have
never yet been beaten,” said he, “when I put forth my full speed. I challenge any one
here to race with me.”
The tortoise said quietly, “I accept your challenge.”
“That is a good joke”, said the hare. “I could dance round you all the way”.
“Keep your boasting till you´ve beaten me”, answered the tortoise. “Shall we
race?”
So a course was fixed and a start was made. The hare darted almost out of
sight at once, but soon stopped and, to show his contempt for the tortoise, lay down
to have a nap. The tortoise plodded on and plodded on, and when the hare awoke
fromhis nap, he sawthe tortoise just near the winning-post and could not run up in
time to save the race.
Then said the tortoise, “Plodding wins the race”.
Moral: “Slow and steady progress wins the race.”

Text 3: The Lion and the Mouse
Imagem pintada pela professora PDE 2010 - Danila Calderon
Once when a lion was asleep, a little mouse began running up and down upon
him. This soon wakened the lion, who placed his huge paw upon the mouse, and
opened his big jaws to swallow him.
“Pardon, O King,” cried the little mouse. “Forgive me this time, and I shall
never forget it. Who knows what I may be able to do for you in turn one of these
days?”
The lion was so tickled at the idea of the mouse being able to help him that he
lifted up his paw and let him go.
Sometime later the lion was caught in a trap and the hunters who desired to
carry him alive to the king tied him to a tree while they went in search of a wagon to
carry him on. Just then the little mouse happened to pass by, and seeing the sad
plight of the lion he went up to him and soon gnawed away the ropes that bound the
king of the beasts.
“Was I not right?” said the little mouse.
Moral: “Small friends may prove to be great friends.”

de tempo e expressões adverbiais (yesterday, last week, in 2010, three days ago,
etc.) são geralmente utilizadas. A selfish fox once invited a stork to dinner at his

WRITING PRODUCTION
THIS IS A PORTUGUESE VERSION FROM THE LION AND THE MOUSE
WRITING BY MONTEIRO LOBATO. READ IT AND REWRITE IT IN ENGLISH.
