Resumo:
O presente projeto de produção didático
pedagógico intitulado Digital Storytelling: o
gênero narrativa autobiográfica digital em
aulas de língua inglesa, proposto para o
Programa de Desenvolvimento Educacional –
PDE, para o ano de 2014 e 2015, tem por
objetivo compreender e refletir sobre o ensino
de língua inglesa mediado pelas tecnologias,
baseando-se na pedagogia de multiletramento
com interface em gêneros textuais para o
ensino de língua inglesa. Para isso, optamos
por produzir e aplicar uma sequência didática
do gênero narrativa autobiográfica.
escolha da narrativa deu-se por apresentar
uma temática que explora uma questão muito
pertinente a nossa sociedade atual: a

D’Oeste no estado do Paraná.
classe econômica baixa a média.
texto (BRONCKART, 1999; SCHNEUWLY; DOLZ, 2004)

MODULE 1
Stories have taken many different forms!
Long ago, in primitive times, stories were passed on by word of mouth. Since the invention of printing by Johann Gutenberg, around 1439, stories have been part of the world's literature.

Storytelling has always been a significant part of history, but the means through which the stories have been told has evolved with each civilization. From the oral histores presented by bards in ancient courts, to the works of scribes during the Renaissance, to newspapers, CNN, and now the Internet, personal narrative has been used to communicate the events of the past.

Who is Linda Lisher?
She’s 28 years old. She participates in a project called Envisioning New Meanings of Disability and Difference, offered by the Centre for Digital Storytelling, in Ontario University. Linda explains that the project encourages women to accept and love their own bodies and selves. It also celebrates the self-expression and
accomplishments of women living with disabilities and physical differences.
Objective of her narrative
Lindsay uses the power of image to communicate in her own words her physical differences, how she wants to be seen and what is important to her life.
Theme of her narrative
According to Lindsay, women living with disabilities and physical differences have many roles in life such as mothers, daughters, sisters, lovers, partners. They are women with a vast range of abilities, talents and experiences.Yet, they are seen as stereotypes: the tragic or the victim woman. Women with disabilities and differences find that these representations do not reflect

their own experiences.
So, stories have the power to change how they view and understand many things: their identity, their body image, their own experience of difference. Sharing personal stories and alternative images is an important part of creating change.
Electronic address of her narrative
The project address is http://www.envisioningnewmeanings.ca. Using photography and digital stories, the project shares personal stories of women with disabilities and physical differences. Project participants create images of disability and difference that challenge the viewer to question the “less than” or “better than” judgments made about physical appearance.
Production of her narrative
The photography workshops put cameras in the hands of the participants who used them to make their own digital story, to capture their perspective on life with a disability or difference. The digital stories are 2 – 3 minute autobiographical videos that use still images, short video clips, and sound recordings.

Module 6
Your own Digital
story, it’s your turn
now!
From now on, we are going to work on your own digital story. Pay attention to these 10 important compositional elements of digital storytelling, produced in the Centre for Digital Storytelling, in Ontario University, in 2008, by Bernard Robin (http://digitalstorytelling.coe.uh.edu/page ).
Figura 49: digital tree
http://mszionts.wikispaces.com/file/view/digital%20media%20tree.jpg/369482378/800x652/digital%20media%20tree.jpg To write your narrative, the six elements are:
1. Objective of the narrative
2. Point of View (first-person narrative voice)
3. Content
4. The motto
5. Conciseness
6. Good Grammar and Clear Language
To make your narrative into digital format,
the four elements are:
7. Audio and soundtrack recording (clarity of voice)
8. Rhythm of the Narrative (punctuation marks)
9. Production of images
10. Production of video & other multimedia elements
We are going to follow the steps below to produce our own digital story: Figura 50: process

STEP 1 and 2: Come up with an idea,
research, explore and learn
We’re going to work with the six elements to produce our story:
Quadro da autora
Elements 1, 2 and 3:
Objective, point of view and content
1. We all have a story to tell about ourselves. For your story, as you are the narrator, think about these elements: the content and the objective of your narrative.
How can you describe you as a person? What can you tell about you, either about your physical appearance or about your personality traits? What do you want to tell about yourself? What you can say about yourself that will lead to a good story about you? And think about the purpose of writing about you. What do you want people to know about you? What is your message to people?
2. Now, write your ideas: What is your narrative about? and What is your objective?
______________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
1. Objective of the narrative
2. Point of View (first-person narrator)
3. Content
4. The motto
5. Conciseness (short and direct)
6. Good Grammar and Clear Language
Element 4:
Find a motto for your narrative
Every story has a motto. In Lindsay’s narrative her motto is: First impression
3. Now, based on your own narrative (exercise number one above), think and write your own motto. Have a look at some examples below. _____________________________________________________________
Physical appearance is not
what is important.
Free to be me.
I’m not bothered by my
appearance.
You’re the only one.
I’m awesome.
My greatest strength.
I like myself.
I love my body as it is.
Be your own kind of beautiful.
Quadro da autora
Elements 5 and 6:
Conciseness and good grammar, clear language
Your narrative has to be short and direct, without too much detail. Why? Because you have to capture the reader’s attention.
To write your narrative you need to present good grammar and clear language and you have to review the grammar and the language we studied here.
Figura 51: review
http://www.shutterstock.com/pt/pic.mhtml?id=149484518&pl=44814-43068
A motto is a short sentence, a slogan, a rule, that expresses a way of behaving, an attitude or an ideal of life.
4. Go back to Module 3 and Module 4 to review grammar and language, according to the table below:
Module 3
1) Simple present in the narrative
State verbs - figura 20
Action verbs - figura 21
2) Simple past in the narrative
Module 4
3) What do you look like? figura 25
4) What are you like? figura 36
5) Positive traits figura 37

STEP 3: Write your narrative
5. Now, with your teacher’s help, write the first draft of your narrative. Pay attention to the elements below:
What makes a good narrative? Have in mind!!!! Figura 52: mente

Important: check your grammar, punctuation and spelling
You will need to revise your narrative many times until you have your final version.

STEP 4: Storyboard
How to make your narrative into digital format?
Macmillan Dictionary defines storyboard as “a series of pictures that the
director of a film uses to plan the action that will be filmed.”
Creating a storyboard will help you plan your animated narrative shot by shot.
You can make changes to your storyboard before you start animating, instead of
changing your mind later. You will also be able to talk about your animated
narrative and show your storyboard to other people to get feedback on your
ideas. Look at an example of a storyboard: Figura 54: storyboard
https://www.google.com.br/search?q=storyboard&biw=1024&bih=643&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa
6. Create your own storyboard:
a. Copy your final version of your narrative in your storyboard. b. You can draw images or put photos that will complement your animated narrative in the next steps. The storyboard will guide you to produce your digital narrative.

Step 5: Create audio, images and video
Elements 7 and 8:
Audio and soundtrack recording,
narrative rhythm
7. Audio recording and soundtrack When recording your voice, pay special attention to:
volume and tone of voice
facial expressions
eye contact
hand gestures
punctuation, pauses and
pacing (rhythm)
a. Choose a friend and “Act”. Read an excerpt of Lindsay’s Storytelling and pay attention of:
- volume and tone of voice - hand gestures
- facial expressions
- eye contact - punctuation, pauses and
pacing
This is my face and I’m here to introduce you to it.
You may not know it but right now I’m wondering if you like it. My face is
asymmetrical. My nose is crooked and my eyes are not level. I didn’t know this
until a boyfriend pointed it out to me.

Record your narrative
b. Use a cell phone, a camera, an ipad, or a notebook to record your story. Listen to it many times and observe punctuation, pauses and pacing. Your story should have about 2 to 3 minutes.
Figura 55: celular
Record your soundtrack
c. Choose a song that better define your writing. You can add sound effects,
too.
Elements 9 and 10:
Audio recording and soundtrack, production of
images and video
8. Production of images and video
Produce your images
a. Choose your images. If they are still images, they have to be numbered to correspond to each part of the narration. See the example below, with Lindsay’s images:
Figura 56: Lindsay storyboard
Elaborada pela autora. Fotos do vídeo First Impression
Produce your video
Imagen retirada do site público Pixabay
b. Put your images in a sequence. The narration and soundtrack are added to the video to create a presentation.
Figura 57: video
Step 6: Putting all together
10. Your narrative is recorded now. Soundtrack should be added to enhance your narration, but only introduce music at the beginning or end of the narration, the same procedure to sound effects, too.
Let’s see the tutorial about movie maker http://www.techtudo.com.br/dicas-e-tutoriais/noticia/2012/09/como-fazer-video-com-fotos-e-
musica.html
Step 7: Share
11.Once your video is created, share it with your classmates.

Step 8: feedback and reflect
12.Get your classmates feedback and reflect on what needs to be improved.
13.Check if you have done your drafting; editing; revising and sharing.
