Ao juntarmos um perodo simples com outro, montamos um composto. Perodos compostosso tambm freqentemente utilizados na composio de textos. Podemos juntar as oraes des maneiras, uma delas utilizando a palavra and (e). Example: Andrew is an engineer

Identificando o sujeito, que pode ser um nome ou um pronome, encontramos tambm os

verbos logo sguir. Na primeira orao, vemos o is ou o to be. Na segunda orao vemOs verbos compem o predicado e nos do a noo de estado ou de movimento na orao. J pos ento identificar o sujeito e o verbo de uma orao. Isso fundamental para que voc consiga uma boa leitura dos textos. O sujeito pode ser um nome (ou um substantivo) ou um pronome. Nas oraes em Ingls, a presena do sujeito constante. Observe a tabela seguinte :

Note que o pronome It no possui traduo. Ele ocupa, entre vrias possibilidades, a funsujeito quando o sujeito inexistente em portugus, ex.: It rains a lot in the summer. (Chove muito no vero.)

Observe a seguir a formao do verbo to be. To be ser , estar Singulares I You He SheIt am are is is is Plurais We are You are They are

Observe agora o sujeito e o to be nos seguintes exemplos : Examples: Sharon is from Australia. Shes a systems analyst. She is not a supervisor. (Sharon da Austrlia.) (Ela uma analista de sistemas) (Ela no uma supervisora)

Note que o sujeito pode ser substitudo por um pronome. A negao, not colocada depoiso verbo. Se juntarmos estes perodos, podemos transforma-los de simples para composto.
