O Verbo TO BE
A. Observe a conjugação do verbo to be no presente, junto com os
correspondentes pronomes pessoais (sujeito):

One, às vezes, é usado para substituir um substantivo.
B. A forma interrogativa de to be é obtida pela inversão do sujeito e do verbo:

Os pronomes pessoais apresentam as seguintes formas quando usados como adjetivos, paraindicar posse:

ADJETIVOS E ADVÉRBIOS
O adjetivo modifica substantivos ou pronomes. O advérbio modifica adjetivos, outrosadvérbios e verbos.
A. A maioria dos advérbios é formada pelo acréscimo de ly aos adjetivos correspondentes.
John is a careful worker. He works carefully.
Mary is a slow driver. She drives slowly.
B. Há algumas palavras que conservam a mesma forma quando empregadas como adjetivosou advérbios.
C. Há, porém, palavras que alteram totalmente sua forma, ao mudarem de classe gramatical.

Passado Contínuo (Past Continuous Tense)
1) Assim como o presente contínuo, o passado também é formado com to be e o gerúndio.Observe a conjugação de to be no passado:

1) Forma:
O presente perfeito contínuo é composto do presente perfeito de to be e do gerúndio doverbo principal:

2) Uso:
Indica uma ação que começou no passado e continua até agora. Não há diferença de sentidoentre esta forma e o presente perfeito:
estes advérbios, freqüentemente, são usados em final de frase.

4. Futuro (Future Tense)
Normalmente, o futuro é formado com o verbo auxiliar will (ou shall nas primeiras pessoas:I/we), seguido do infinitivo do verbo principal sem a partícula to.
Existe, porém, outro modo de expressar o futuro: empregando-se o presente contínuo de togo + o infinitivo
Esta forma expressa o futuro provável; comunica a intenção ou certeza da pessoa que fala.
A forma interrogativa é obtida pela inversão do sujeito e do verbo:
A forma negativa é obtida colocando-se not depois do auxiliar.
Não se emprega o futuro e sim o presente, após expressões de tempo:

SEQÜÊNCIA DOS TEMPOS
1) De acordo com a regra de seqüência dos tempos em inglês, todos os verbos dependentesdo verbo principal concordam com este (em tempo):

2) No discurso direto, são transcritas entre aspas, as palavras exatas da pessoa que fala. Nestecaso não há concordância:
