Não há falta de informação acerca das conse-

quências do consumo de droga. Elas sabem

os riscos que correm. Cada um que tome as

suas opções. Só não concordo com o facto de

só consumirem porque o grupo de amigos

consome.

There isn’t lack of information about the consequences

of drug use. They know the risks they’re taking. Each

one makes their options. The only thing I don’t agree

about is using drugs just because their friends use.

Acho que os pais estão a perder o controlo

sobre os seus filhos. O consumo de droga

começa devido ao ambiente em casa e pela

influência dos grupos de amigos, por medo

de se sentirem excluídos.

I think that parents are losing control over their chil-

dren. The drug use starts due to family problems and

influence by friends, by fear of being excluded.

NA/DA CRISE!...

Crise, crise, crise!… Estou farta de cri-

se!.... Farta de ver/ouvir toda a gente a

falar de crise... De viver em crise... De

tentar arranjar culpados para a crise…

Para além da crise (ou crises) que senti-

mos bem na pele, o importante é saber

sair dela. É perceber porque e como aqui

chegámos, e, sobretudo, saber que futu-

ro queremos. Para nós e para os nossos

filhos.

Ao longo das últimas décadas, fomo-nos

deixando arrastar, mais ou menos (in)

conscientemente, mais ou menos cul-

pados, para um mundo de ilusões onde

tudo era possível. Fácil. Descartável. Os

direitos eram nossos. Os deveres dos

outros. Quem assim não pensasse era,

inexoravelmente, marginalizado. Esma-

gado. Humilhado, às vezes. Isto aconte-

ceu em quase tudo o que diz respeito

às nossas vidas. No acesso ao crédito

fácil. No trabalho. Na educação. Na rela-

ção entre as pessoas. No sexo. Em tudo.

O importante era o “parecer” e o “ter”

ou, até, o “parecer ter”! ... E mais grave

ainda, educámos os nossos filhos assim.

Agora, desesperados e aflitos,

«apanhados de surpresa», queremos

culpados. Para tudo. Para os erros dos

«outros» e para os nossos. Aliás, a «culpa

é sempre dos outros»! Esquecemo-nos,

todavia, é de que os verdadeiros culpa-

dos não têm rosto e de que nós, tão

sábios e tão atentos, permitimos e

aplaudimos. Cegamente.

Por isso e pensando nos mais jovens, vai

sendo tempo de mudar. De os ajudar a

vencer os tempos difíceis. De os ajudar a

aprender a saber PENSAR e saber SER.

CAUGHT IN/OF THE CRISIS

Crisis, crisis, crisis!... I’m sick of crisis! I’m sick of hea-

ring everybody talk about crisis… About living in cri-

sis… About trying to find someone to blame for the

crisis…

Beyond the crisis that we actually feel, the important

thing here is to know how to get out of it. The important

part is to understand why and how we got here and, most

importantly, to know what future we want. For us, and for

our children.

Over the past decades, we’ve let ourselves be dragged,

more or less (un)consciously, more or less guilty, to a

world made of illusions where everything was possible.

Easy. Disposable. The rights were ours. The duties were

the others’. And who didn’t think that way would be inexo-

rably outcast. Crushed. Sometimes even humiliated. This

happened in almost everything in our lives. .In easy

access to credit. At work. In education. In social relation-

ships. In sex. In everything. The important thing was to

“look good”, and “to have stuff”, or even “appearing to

have stuff”!... And even worse, that was the way we taught

our kids to behave and think that way.

Now, desperate and afflicted, “caught by surprise”, we

want someone to blame. For everything. To blame for the

others’ mistakes, and for ours. Indeed, “the others’ are

always the ones to blame”! However, we forget that the

real ones to blame haven’t got a face, and that we, so

smart and vigilant, allow and applaud. Blindly.

So, and thinking about the young people, it’s time to chan-

ge. It’s time to help them to overcome difficult times. It’s

time to help them learning how to THINK and how to BE.

ACREDITA EM TI!

Olhão tem cada vez mais jovens. E isso é

bom. Porém, alguns deles são muito

influenciados pelas companhias

e acabam por ir por maus caminhos .

Drogas . Álcool . Ou outras situações

complicadas.

Olhão precisa de apoiar os "seus jovens"

e os seus projectos. Quando digo Olhão

refiro-me às pessoas, às famílias, à esco-

la, a toda a sociedade. Os jovens

precisam desse apoio para seguir

bons caminhos.

Tudo deveria começar pela educa-

ção em casa. Mas isso nem sempre

é possível e todos devem ter as

mesmas oportunidades. Por isso

toda a sociedade, todas as pessoas

deviam assumir essa responsabilidade,

Porque os jovens são o futuro da cidade.

Por isso temos de começar a agir, hoje.

Porque nesta cidade existem jovens que

gostam de fazer coisas novas, jovens

com vontade de criar, de produzir,

jovens motivados mas que precisam

de apoio para expor as suas ideias e

ajuda na concretização das mesmas.

Tu tens a oportunidade de ser diferen-

te . Ter sonhos . Ter objectivos.

Basta quereres, teres vontade de apren-

der, não ter vergonha de arriscar ou

falhar.

Acredita nos teus projetos, nas tuas

ideias. Acredita em ti.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!

Olhão has an increasing number of young people. And that’s

a good thing. However, some of them are influenced by who

they hang up with and end up going wrong ways. Drugs.

Alcohol. Or other complicated situations.

Olhão needs to support its young people and their projects.

And when I say Olhão, I’m referring to the people, to the

families, to society. Young people need support to learn to

do the right things.

Everything should start with education at home. Of course,

this isn’t always possible, yet everyone should have the

same opportunities. Society, everyone, should take respon-

sibility, because young people are our city’s future.

We have to start acting now.

There are young people in this city that like to innovate,

young people willing to create, young people that are motiva-

ted but who need support to expose their ideas and who

need help to make them happen.

You have the opportunity to be different. To have dreams.

To have goals.

You just need to want to; you just need to be willing to learn,

and not to be ashamed of risking or failing.

Believe in your projects, in your ideas. Believe in yourself.

Acho que é por cada vez ser mais fácil o aces-

so às drogas, seja rapariga ou rapaz. Os pais

são muito ausentes, e embora tenham o

dever de estar atentos, na maioria dos casos

não estão.

I think that it happens because the purchase of drugs is

increasingly easy, be it for a boy or a girl. Parents are

very absent nowadays, although they have a duty to be

vigilant. But in most cases, they aren’t.

Não sabia desse estudo, e pensava que os

rapazes é que consumiam mais. Acho que as

pessoas que consomem mais drogas são

aquelas cujas famílias não se preocupam com

elas. E também consomem mais porque lhes

dizem ser “divertido”.

I didn’t know about that study, I thought boys used

drugs more than girls. I think people who use more

drugs are those whose family doesn’t care about them.

I also think that people try it because they’re told it’s

“fun”.

Acho que é mau sinal, é sinal de que os pais

não estão atentos e que a droga é de fácil

acesso.

I think it’s a bad sign. It’s a sign that both parents aren’t

careful and drugs are easy to obtain.

Quais as qualidades para ter sucesso na

sua profissão?

GM: Ter bom conhecimento técnico (estar

permanentemente atualizado) que permita à

luz da lei encontrar a solução mais conve-

niente para os interesses do cliente. A nível

pessoal é recomendada uma boa dose de

paciência, perseverança e sangue frio.

What are the skills a person needs to be sucessful

in your profession?

GM: It’s important to have a good technical knowledge

and to be always updated. It is also important to find,

under the law, the most convenient solution to the

client’s interests. On a personal level, it is recommen-

ded a handful of patience, perseverance and self-

control.

Que conselhos deixa a quem quer seguir

essa profissão?

GM: Em primeiro lugar, estar preparado para

enfrentar um plano de estudos vasto e exi-

gente. A nível de mercado de trabalho, o

futuro não é propriamente risonho.

What advices do you give to people who want to

follow your career?

GM: in first place, it’s needed to be prepared to face a

vast and demanding syllabus. In the work field, future

isn’t actually bright.

É uma profissão com futuro em Portugal?

GM: Essa é uma questão subjetiva , nesta e

em qualquer profissão.

Tudo dependerá do empenho, das qualida-

des que referi anteriormente e de alguma

sorte.

Is it a career with a future in Portugal?

GM: That is a subjective matter, in this or in any other

career.

Everything will rely on the effort, on the skills I already

mentioned, and on some luck.

Quando começaste a cantar?

FL: Com 5 anos, comecei a cantar nos palcos nas festas da minha terra,

S. Miguel, nos Açores. Talvez por isso não tenha problemas em cantar

frente a muita gente.

When did you start singing?

FL: I started singing when I was five years old, in my land’s (S. Miguel, Azores) celebra-

tions. Maybe that’s why I’m comfortable with singing for big crowds.

Porquê a música?

FL: Não sei, mas a música transmite-me algo inexplicável. Faz parte da

minha vida.

Why music?

FL: I don’t know, but music transmits me something unexplainable. It’s part of my life.

Que formação tiveste?

FL: Com 15 anos comecei a estudar bateria e piano. Aos 16 anos entrei

para o Conservatório de Musica de Olhão, para ter formação em canto.

Terminei o 5º grau. Para passar ao 6º grau tenho que ir para Faro, mas

não tenho possibilidades financeiras.

What kind of formation did you get?

FL: When I was fifteen years old I started learning to play the drums and the piano.

When I was sixteen, I joined Conservatório de Música de Olhão, so I could learn how

to sing. I finished fifth grade. If I wanted to pass to sixth grade I would have to go to

Faro, I have no financial means.

Qual o momento que mais te marcou na música?

FL: Foi sem duvida a participação no concurso Canta Comigo da TVI.

Fiquei em 3º Lugar.

What was the moment that marked you the most in music?

FL: It was, undoubtedly, when I participated in the contest Canta Comigo (Sing With

Me) in TVI. I got the third place.

Qual é para ti a importância desses concursos?

FL: O mais importante foi a experiência, a aprendizagem e a possibilida-

de de cantar para milhares de pessoas. O importante é continuar a tra-

balhar e a estudar. Depois desse concurso entrei em vários projectos,

como a banda The Rigth Boys.

What is, to you, the importance of these contests?

FL: The most important part was the experience, the learning and the possibility of

singing to thousands of people. The most important part is to keep working and

studying. After that contest, I already joined many projects such as The Right Boys

band.

Projetos para o Futuro?

FL: Neste momento sou músico residente na Recreativa. Canto todas as

sextas-feiras e tenho a possibilidade de convidar outros músicos para

tocarmos em conjunto.

What are your projects for your future?

FL: At the moment I’m a permanent musician at the Recreativa. I sing every Friday and

I have the opportunity of inviting other musicians to play with me.

Fernando Leal ficou em 3º lugar no concurso Canta Comigo da TVI.

Com os The Right Boys atuou nas Festas da Cidade de Olhão, em 2012.

Atua às sextas, na Sociedade Recreativa Olhanense, com convidados.

and development of activities place that aims to

promote and support the human development of

The facilities

Information, reading and groupwork areas, Magazi-

nes and newspapers consulting area, Free internet

access, Photography Lab and Rehearsal Rooms you

can request to develop your projects or rehearseal

with your band, acting or dancing group.

A CJO disponibiliza recursos humanos e

materiais para o apoio às iniciativas e proje-

tos dos jovens, como a concepção gráfica

de materiais de divulgação logótipos, carta-

zes, folhetos, etc.

The Youth House makes available human resources

and material to support the young people’s projects

and initatives, like such as graphic design for logos,

promotional materials, posters, flyers, etc.

OLHÃO NAS ESCOLAS

A Casa da Juventude e as Biblio-

tecas Escolares de Olhão dinami-

zaram, entre 4 e 12 de outubro,

sessões de apresentação da

Antologia de Novos Autores de

Olhão, com o intuito de promo-

ver a leitura e divulgar os novos

talentos da nossa terra, a nossa

cultura e o nosso património.

Esses foram também os objeti-

vos que estiveram na base do

lançamento desta iniciativa, da

autarquia de Olhão, que colocou

os olhanenses maiores de 14

anos a escrever e a divulgar os

seus trabalhos.

A segunda edição da antologia

está prevista para 2013. Envia já

pela Casa da Juventude do muni-

OLHÃO’S NEW WRITERS IN

THE SCHOOLS

The Youth House (Casa da Juventude)

and the schools’ libraries got together

between 4th and 12th of October, to

perform the Olhão’s New Writers Antho-

logy book presentation. This event aims

to promote reading habits and to reveal

our city’s new talents, culture and heri-

tage.

These were also the aims of Olhão’s

Municipality when it promoted the New

Writers Anthology contest, that was

made for Olhão’s people from age 14,

for them to write and reveal their talent.

The Anthology’s 2nd edition’s release is

scheduled for 2013. Send your works to

casajuventude@cm-olhao.pt and you

can be one of the new writers edited by

Youth House and Olhão’s Municipality.
