country in the world in land mass, encompassing half of

When traveling to Brazil, you might want to limit your travels according to region, or vacation type.

Here are a few tips you can use when planning your

Brazilian vacation.

1. First, decide on how you want to structure your vacation.

For example, If you’re traveling to Manaus, it might not be a great idea to make Rio De Janeiro your next destination.

If you’re looking to travel to Brazil’s northern cities like Recife or Natal, maybe Porto Alegre in the south should not be the next city on your travel list.

Plan according to region, or to your specific interests.

For example, if ecotourism is your niche, Sao Paulo is not the best destination to visit.

Although you may have to sacrifice some cities and activities during your trip, you can always travel to those destinations in other opportunities.

The Amazon and Ecotourism

Amazon

There are an assortment of Amazon River tours available that allow you to explore the Amazon rainforest, and its various sanctioned outposts.

The area that composes the Amazon is enormous, and much of it is still unexplored.

Because of the array of flora and fauna in the area, it can also be quite a dangerous trip if done improperly.

Make sure that your tour guides and tour companies are sanctioned and recognized entities that will not leave you lost in the middle of the Amazon rainforest.

The major cities located amongst the ancient trees and rivers also offer an array of ecotours and wildlife watching opportunities.

Northeastern Brazil’s Coastal Cities

Natal, Fortaleza, Recife, and Salvador are some of the country’s most populated cities.

Both founded in the early 1500’s, remnants of Portuguese and Dutch colonialism are evident throughout both cities.

Sao Paulo & Rio De Janeiro

Although many other cities like Salvador – for its historical significance – and Brasilia – for its political significance – can claim being the heart of Brazil, the cities of Sao Paulo and Rio De Janeiro are certainly the country’s most important and iconic cities.

Location Although located in

different states, the cities are only separated by a five-

hour car ride, or an hour and a half flight.

Between the Sao Paulo and Rio Metropolitan areas, both areas compose over 16 percent of the

country’s total population.

Culture & Economy

While Rio is somewhat known as the country’s

cultural and touristic hub, Sao Paulo is hands down the

Sao Paulo

The concrete jungle of Sao Paulo has over 110 museums and art galleries to visit according to the Urbantravelblog, and thousands more commercial and retail opportunities.

Rio de Janeiro Rio on the other hand is Latin America’s most visited city, with a drastically more laid back lifestyle than that of Sao Paulo’s.
