MFX umbilicals are manufactured in differentconfigurations to meet various applicationsand projects, and may be composed of ther-moplastic hydraulic hoses, chemical injectionhoses or special steel tubes combined withelectrical power cables, signal and fiber opticalcables, with or without steel armor for pressu-re classes up to 15,000 psi.

With continuous lengths of up to 10 km and dia-meters ranging from 3 to 10 inches, MFX umbi-licals are provided with appropriate fittings andaccessories specially developed and designed forvarious connections and applications.

Manufacturing and Testing

A MFX do Brasil tem um processo integrado de produo que se inicia

com a seleo criteriosa de fornecedores e matrias primas e se estendeao servio de atendimento tcnico ps venda com efetivo lanamento doumbilical na gua.

O seu processo de fabricao inclui a extruso de tubos termoplsticosque, aps receber uma ou mais camadas de fibra de aramida e capa ex-terna so testados para formar as mangueiras termoplsticas, tipo hidru-lica ou, com a incluso de carcaas metlicas, as mangueiras de injeoqumica com alta resistncia ao colapso.

As mangueiras so reunidas em operao de cableamento em conjunto

com cabos eltricos e envoltos em uma capa intermediria termoplstica.Uma ou mais camadas de armadura metlica so devidamente projetadaspara diferentes cargas de trao durante a operao submarina e, sobre aqual aplicada uma nova capa externa termoplstica.

Alternativamente, mangueiras podem ser substitudas por tubos de aoespecial, como tambm em suas estruturas, os umbilicais podem contercabos eltricos de potncia e fibra tica, alm dos cabos de sinal.

MFX do Brasil has an integrated supply process that begins with a careful selection ofsuppliers and raw materials and extends to the customer technical service with effectiveinstallation and commissioning of the umbilical in the water.

Its manufacturing process includes the extrusion of thermoplastic tubes, which, afterreceiving one or more layers of aramid fibers and an outer sheath are tested to formthe thermoplastic hydraulic hoses, or, with the inclusion of a metal carcass, form thechemical injection hoses with a high collapse resistance.

The hoses are then assembled in the cabling process with the electrical cables and wra-pped in a thermoplastic intermediate jacket. One or more layers of steel wire armor areduly designed for different tensile loads during underwater operations, upon which, anew thermoplastic outer jacket is applied.

Alternatively, hoses can be replaced by special steel tubes and the steel wire armorreplaced by aramid braid armor.

Also in their structures, the umbilicals may contain electrical power cables, optical fibers,as well as signal cables.

Repair and Upgrade of Umbilicals

Since 2007, MFX has been offering its customers the option to repair and upgrade nonarmored umbilicals by substituting certain functional elements who may have been da-maged in operation or may require an upgrade. MFX is the only company in Brazil thatdeveloped this expertise targeted at the subsea umbilical cables market. The willingnessto bring solutions to the offshore oil market is a determining factor for the MFX conso-lidation and strengthening in IWOCS applications.

Maintenance and Installation of Umbilicals / Pipelines / Cables

MFX do Brasil offers both onshore and offshore services including laying, installation,maintenance and perfect fitness of its umbilicals and accessories to the mechanical,hydraulic and electrical needs of its customers. Among the main services offered are:
